Sentinel Campground

Check in was easy. Great campground. Bear sightings in camp throughout the evening.

Very nice area, shaded and scenic spots to explore. The campsite is nice, some late night parties but at least we could have a fire and bathroom was clean. I slept well and saw the Milky Way through the treetops

Site 67 was sunny on a hot stretch of summer. Good location near br and it was clean and stocked. We did have bears, no issues with them, neighbors created alot of noise. Ranger chased one out of camp another day- yes day or night. Bear locker used, but did not have shade, so bring that. Squirrels are brazen! Got into locker and i got scratched chasing him out! But, river cool and had a great experience.

The site was okay with enough level ground between the trees for a two person tent. A larger tent could fit in a slightly sloped area. The biggest issue with this campground is the disrepair of the restrooms. The toilets flush, but not with any power so the water just churns in the bowl making the restrooms quite gross. The sink closest to us was also out of order and had obviously been for some time. Thick cobwebs, dead bugs, dust, and grime. Camping at a campground shouldn't be filthy. The Park staff also need to enforce bear rules. We heard some folks intentionally leave dumpsters unlocked so they can see bear. People left food in the camp sink and overfilled the dumpsters leading to food habituated bears frequenting the campground.

Our campground itself was beautiful and spacious—we stayed at site 34. However, the individual sites offered relatively little privacy, as they weren’t separated by trees or other natural barriers. The river right next to the campground was a welcome way to cool off in August. Showers were available within walking distance at the nearby lodge for a small fee.
The firewood sold at the lodge was quite expensive at $15 per box. The campground restrooms were also very basic, with no lights, mirrors, or soap, which we found a little disappointing. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay and especially appreciated the beautiful location and easy access to the river.

Stayed in Sentinel, site 13. Great site with access to the river and an easy walk to the restrooms!

Site #3 is spacious and nicely shaded. Close to restrooms and the activity center. Attended an educational presentation on Native tribal history of the canyon. Very well done. Spent two nights at this site---both nights were riddled with noisy neighbors who walked through our site and shined flashlights into our tent.
Great location for access to river and wonderful hiking trails. Overall a good trip.

great experiece, most beautiful place we have ever camped as a family, only downside is camping with 4 kiddos at a "bear box" site is a lot of work taking things out and putting them away, but worth it!
