What Guests Are Saying
Sentinel Campground offers a beautiful setting with spacious, shaded sites and proximity to the river, making it ideal for hiking and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the serene atmosphere and the campground's access to nearby amenities, such as the store and ranger programs. However, the facilities, particularly the restrooms, are in disrepair and require maintenance, which detracts from the overall experience.

We loved our stay here. Our site was not very level for our tent trailer and the asphalt was broken and missing in the back park of site which made one wheel ( down slope side) have to be up on a lot of blocks, but we made it work. Our site backed to the meadow however the brush is chest to head high at edge of site so you really couldn’t see it well. The site is pretty private though which we loved. Sites by the river are the best imo.

Lovely to be here in the off-season after the crowds have left (October mid-week). Campground spaces are wide-set and spread out with easy access to the river. Flush toilets were a nice amenity!

I always wish that everyone would follow rules. No smoking, no fireworks, don't leave food in the sink, the obvious. But I can't control that. I wish there were more Park Rangers throughout Kings Canyon and Sequoia. I was surprised at how few I saw. Besides all of this, absolutely magical. I had a magical experience. It's a very beautiful campground in one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

I enjoyed my camping experience at Sentinel Campground, Site #57, in Kings Canyon NP.
Pros: It was more remote and peaceful than expected. Scenic wild country, offering many day hikes with easy to difficult ratings. Backpackers could hike into the high Sierras. Pros: Large campsites. No crowds or hustle and bustle as in Yosemite 3 days ago. Here there was water and flush toilets. Good hiking in the wild Sierras.
Cons: no showers or services. (There was a lodge complex which appeared to be closed). The pine trees dripped resin all over my car's windows and bodywork. This was hard to remove.

Campground was fine. The crowds certainly start to thin out down in Kings Canyon, at least when I was there. The sites have picnic tables, bear boxes. Make sure to bring soap. I was confused where to put my trash, some of the dumpsters were zip-tied shut, but some others in the campground were open.
