What Guests Are Saying
Sentinel Campground offers a beautiful setting with spacious, shaded sites and proximity to the river, making it ideal for hiking and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the serene atmosphere and the campground's access to nearby amenities, such as the store and ranger programs. However, the facilities, particularly the restrooms, are in disrepair and require maintenance, which detracts from the overall experience.

We loved staying at Sentinel Campground! Site 14 is one of the best sites. It’s a big site right on the river with lots of trees to hang hammocks, great spot for the tent between two tall trees. Loved listening to the river at night. Kings Canyon is spectacularly beautiful. Great hikes and stunning scenery. I liked it more than Yosemite! Much more remote and it really felt like we were getting away from it all and disconnecting. Highly recommend!!

Nice campground, lots of trees, stayed 7-6-22. Not so good if you're planning on a one night stay out of the blue. Reservation only. No cell service or wifi just 1 payphone by the visitor center. Waited an hour on hold for a rep. Campground had plenty of empty sites, campground next to this one was half empty. Would be nice if they had one of these campgrounds managed by a camp host. So people just popping in can pay for a site more easily.

The campground was clean and accommodating. Check-in was easy and the Ranger who checked me in was polite, friendly and professional. My only complaint with the campground was the pay phone. it's about a 40 minute drive to reach a spot with cellular service and I wanted to let my wife know that I was successful in obtaining a walk-up permit to hike Rae Lakes Loop so I tried to use the "Only Pay Phone" but it wouldn't accept any quarters. I asked at the visitors center if there were any other pay phones and I was informed that there weren't but that it would accept credit cards. I've used the pay phones at Lodgepole in SNP last year and I know that you can talk for a couple minutes for 50 cents. There was no notification on the pay phone regarding the cost to use a credit card but I thought it would cost 50 cents or possibly a maximum of $2.
Imagine my surprise when I returned home and saw my credit card had been billed $22.05 for a 0ne minute phone call.
