Sheep Creek Campground offers beautiful scenery, well-maintained sites, and a peaceful atmosphere, particularly enjoyed for its proximity to the river and hiking trails. Many campers appreciated the quiet nights and spacious campsites, although some reported issues with noise from neighboring sites and restroom cleanliness. Overall, visitors had a delightful experience, with several expressing a strong desire to return despite minor inconveniences.

Campsite excellent spot. Bear came through. It was tagged. Ranger came shortly after and talked about bear. Gave us tips and even told us bears name. They track some of them.

We stayed for just one night in our RAV4 that we set up for quick overnight camping. The campground is very dark once the sun goes down so I recommend getting there early to figure out the location of the restrooms if needed. As with most national park campgrounds, there is no electric. The sites, however, are were big and nicely laid out. As a senior citizen the site cost us $16 dollars.

Even though we had a small trailer, 22' and the site allowed up to 24', these are very tight spots. This is obviously a tent campground by the layout and is not easily usable with trailers.

NOISY and BRIGHT !!! What has camping become. People that bring their 1 year old kids and dogs shouldn't come if they can't keep them from crying and barking. I understand a baby has to cry but 3 hours straight, that is ridiculous and dogs barking when ever someone walks by or if they see a squirrel or hear a strange noise. This was suppose to be the nice time to go after labor day but it was not, there should be a time when little ones and dogs aren't allowed so the real campers could enjoy. I also disagree with all these people that have to light up their campsite like a football stadium. These LED lights now have a million lumens and they string them all around their campsite and have them on their head where if they look over to your camp you get blinded. Just ridiculous what camping has become, I guess people don't like enjoying the sound of the river and the stars. Why go camping, just stay at home until your kids get old enough to respect it and get your dogs under control. I have camped here for over 55 years and it gets worse every year, seems like it is just a cheap place to go party now. John Muir is probably rolling in his grave at what has happened, people have No respect for the beauty and nature of this special place. There are still some great people that come to camp and get away from the city and enjoy nature but we are far and few now it seems. Like I said, this isn't camping, just a party place where no one pays attention to the rules and the rangers don't enforce them so they just do what they want. It is amazing to when a bear comes through, they start setting off their car alarms, which does nothing, they should try putting their food in the bear box where they are supposed to be closed at all times but they get all upset when the bears come and get their food,LOL, well put your food where it is suppose to be and the bears will leave. After all these years I think I am done coming here until the rules and rangers change.

We love Sheep Creek Campground! There are no bad sites here. You’re amongst the trees and the sound of The Kings River flowing in the background, doesn’t get any better than that! It’s also located close to the Roads end for all types of hiking trails. There’s also the Boyden Cavern guided 1 hour guided tour which explores the interior of a marble mountain with really cool formations inside. The guides are really well informed & there is a part of the tour where they turn off all lights inside & you get to see some really amazing natural occurrences (no spoilers here). One more thing is if you plan on going during the end of summer or fall months, please be very responsible & be prepared to have bear encounters & a lot of sightings! As long as you follow the rules on the posted signage you will have an amazing time here. Cheers!
