What Guests Are Saying
Silver Creek in Truckee offers a comfortable and spacious camping experience, particularly for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The proximity to Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River enhances recreational opportunities, and the campground staff are notably friendly and helpful. Great location by the Truckee River and Squaw Valley (I went skiing over July 4th and stayed at Silver Creek then). There is an outhouse toilet but that is about all there is there in terms of amenities (no running water or electricity is my recollection). So as long as you are prepared for that, it shouldn't be an issue.

The water was not drinkable. The sign said we had to boil it for 5 mins for it to be safe. Even after boiling it left a sediment in the bottom of the pot.
Also the spaces were not easy to pull in and get out of and it was very close to the main highway.
Also there was only one water spout for 8 campsites.

Clean campground, friendly camp host. The negative is road noise from Highway 89 although the walk in tent sites by the river are very nice. Easy fishing access but I did not catch any trout. River bike trail is wonderful as well as hiking Shirley Canyon in Squaw Valley. A few mosquitoes but manageable.

Overall, a great campground. If you're looking for solitude, get one of the sites away from the river, though. Otherwise, you have the river floaters trapsing through your campsite when they exit. I'd probably camp here again but on a non-holiday weekend.

Nice campground, highway noise wasn't noticeable though we were car-camping.
Very convenient location, close to Tahoe City and Truckee. 7-11 about 5 minutes away which is 24/7
Spotty cell phone service on T-Mobile, slightly better but still spotty on AT&T.
