We loved Joshua Tree - 49 palms oasis hike, Discovery/Skull Rock/Split Rock trail, and driving through the park to see all the Joshua trees and rocky formations. Indian Cove offered a nice place to see stars and spend the night!

The petroglyphs are amazing!
This is a beautiful, remote area with spiritual vibes. The spacious campground has very clean pit toilets. We saw a lot of wildlife!

LOVE this campground! Was nice that it was so close to town. Water is also very close- about a 2 minute drive down the road to fill up. Amazing rock climbing and scrambling right in the campground. Clean bathrooms and campsite overall.
Was a little worried about the size of our campsites #73 and #74 due to previous reviews, but they ended up working out perfectly. Fit 2 large vehicles at each site and plenty of room for tents. #73 had a spot for a very large tent and room for a medium sized tent also, and #74 had room for 2 medium sized tents. Nice large picnic tables at the sites and room for all our stuff!
Beautiful rocks you can scramble up right behind both sites.
Tip- cute little mice come out to play at night so be sure to keep food secured in bins/coolers!

Our site was secluded with trees, bushes and boulders from nearby sites. Hiking trails nearby. Great night sky area.

We loved our stay at this campsite. The only thing was sites 96-101 were really really close together. If I was to go back I’d pick a different spot but we were lucky to get 97 last second. Unfortunately people in 98 walked through our site often to get to their car. If you like a little more secluded site, I’d avoid 96-100.

I stayed here for one night, and it was amazing! I wish I had booked sooner to get multiple nights. The campsite is small and only has one place for a small tent for two people—amazing views of the enormous boulders. Make sure to put your food away at night because small mice come out.

Take Interstate 10 to State Highway 62. Go past the West Entrance at Park Boulevard and continue east another 9.3 miles. Turn south on Indian Cove Road. Follow the road into the campground. If coming from the east, follow Highway 62 approximately seven miles west of the city of Twentynine Palms and turn south onto Indian Cove Road.
Indian Cove Campground is accessible via Interstate 10 and State Highway 62. It is located approximately 9.3 miles east of the West Entrance at Park Boulevard on Highway 62.

- Reservations are mandatory and can be made up to 6 months in advance or on the same day.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

Cancellation policy
- No-shows will incur a $20 fee and forfeit the first night's fee; the entire reservation will be canceled for no-shows.
Site capacity
- Each campsite allows up to six people and two vehicles, though some sites may have limitations; trailers count as vehicles.
Accessibility
- Access to the main park area is only via hiking trails; there is a $30 vehicle entrance fee in addition to camping fees.
Utilities
- Campsites do not have electric, water, or sewer hookups, and there is no nearby dump station; potable water is available 2 miles away.
Safety & rules
- Generators may only be used during designated hours: 7–9 am, noon–2 pm, and 5–7 pm.
Pets
- Pets must be leashed and are welcome in the campground and nearby areas, but not on trails; leaving pets unattended is discouraged.
Fires & fuel
- Firewood must be obtained locally to prevent pest spread; do not use park vegetation for fuel.
- A fire ban is in effect, prohibiting all fires except gas or propane stoves, from June 15 to October 1.
Local regulations
- Organized events need a special use permit and must take place in designated areas; contact for details.
Wildlife & food storage
- To prevent invasive species, clean all gear and pets before entering or leaving the site and stay on designated paths.
