The Castle House Estate

The castle house was a cute and unique experience. The tent was clean and smelled fresh, which I appreciated. I knew there would be shared bathrooms and showers, but I didn’t realize the shower would be outdoors. It was interesting, but it also felt uncomfortable and exposed.

There was a good amount of space between the tent and the guard tower, but since the area was so open and empty, sound carried easily. I could clearly hear conversations and even people snoring at night.

There is no electricity in the tent, so you need to bring a power bank to charge your phone. There is also no microwave or refrigerator available. Early check-in is not accommodated, and guests are expected to take care of their own trash. Overall, it didn’t feel like much service was provided during the stay.

Castle House Estate was the perfect setting for our retreat. The property is stunning, thoughtfully designed, and creates such a peaceful, grounding atmosphere. You can feel the intention in the space, which made it easy to slow down, connect, and fully drop into the experience. Highly recommend this venue for anyone hosting retreats or meaningful gatherings.

I really wanted to hate this place.

Other than two or three potential gripes, it’s not a bad place to stay. My gripes are the following:

Reservation booked for checkout at 11am. Hotel repeatedly sent messages saying I would have to check out at 10am and were seemingly inflexible about this. The reservation I have paid for says 11am. I was incredibly disappointed that the campground didn’t honor this.

My second issue is their request to “leave the property as I found it”. This is the sort of thing you’d expect for an Airbnb ran by a sole proprietor business, not a fully running “hotel”. Even Airbnbs are cleaned between each guest. I would expect the same for a “hotel style” accommodation such as this. For $205.00 a night I found this insulting at best.

The shower is outside… which is not made clear. I avoided showering. The bathrooms are also just luxury porta-potties. Both are outside the “villa” you stay in.

The property is in a really nice area and you feel very connected to nature. It is well decorated and maintained. There is a coffee machine and everything you’d expect from a luxury hotel (apart from a TV).

House sitters were wonderful and very welcoming and friendly... 5 star there!

Room was clean

HOWEVER, we booked it for the room as pics shown & description, but ended up staying totally unexpected "shipping container" like room with one mattress, no TV no wifi no shower. There was outside public shower and restroom. Please read and make sure what you paying and getting. Owner of this property mis leading customers and should edit the description and fully disclose all the details. Not coming back

The Castle House Estate is truly something special. An amazing desert retreat that has so much to offer! The staff was very attentive and catered to our every need. We stayed in one of the guard towers and really loved it. The towers have rooftop access giving you panoramic views of the desert and starry night sky. We caught every sunrise and sunset, with all the shooting stars in between. It was truly an unforgettable experience and would definitely stay here again!
