Such a great campsite. We had a great time and didn’t feel like the tents were on top of each other even with 40 people. Kids were entertained on the rocks attached to the campsite for hours and hours. The cars were tight, but we could have for 18 if we layered them.

It's on the outskirts of the park, and you have a great view of Twenty-Nine Palms. It's not the best for stargazing. The campsite was good and spacious. The sound carries far here because of the rock hill behind you. Our neighbors' loud conversations carried into our site, and they then complained to us that they could hear our music. I would rather stay within the park as it's much darker for stargazing. This might be a plus for some; we had 100 percent cell service.

It is frustrating for people who would like to camp but all the reservations are taken, and yet, when the campground is "full," there are many unoccupied sites. It seems that many people who make reservations don't know how to cancel, or it's not worth enough to them to cancel. However, the cost of reservations is already high enough to discourage some people trying to reserve, but so many others don't seem to notice, don't show up, and sites are empty. Modification of the system is needed.
If campsite reservations were considerably more expensive than the current reservation system (perhaps $200 per night per site?), and when campers do show up and check in, they would get back the "extra" part of the reservation fee beyond what is today's price. That would make it much more worthwhile to cancel the reservation when they are not coming, and the National Park would then have empty sites available. Also, the National Park system would have another little bit of income from the no-shows who failed to cancel.
