This was a difficult time. The short version:
- Muddy site without sufficient stone to get level
- Small site, where we had to step into adjoining sites to get set up and our truck didn't quite fit inside the site boundary
- 30 amp electric that appeared to have burn marks
- Tight roads to get through park
- Very dark and difficult to see
- This is a corporate - remote run facility and it shows
We booked a site by phone and were told to see the security guard upon arrival for check in details. I explained that we would be arriving late and would need an easy setup. The "stop" to check in is across Highway 128 from the office. Upon check in, we are told to choose a site and the security guard would come around to see which one we chose in a little while.
We selected the site that appeared to be the most level and it turned out to be a mud pit where we were unable to get level. Each time I thought we had it, the ground would sink below one of the jacks and we were off kilter again. There was some small stone laid over the soil, but there was not enough to keep us from sinking. After about 30 minutes of trying to get set up and flopping around like a pig in the mud, I asked the security guard for a refund and told her we were not going to stay. We were offered the opportunity to try a different site, but I had already walked around and seen where the longer stay guests had pushed their personal effects into adjacent "open" sites, so it was pretty unrealistic. We declined this offer and I was directed to the management for that refund.
In the end, we were told we would receive 1/2 in return, but it seems less than reasonable given we were unable to stay and had to stay and pay somewhere else.
I'm sure this place is good for those who arrive when it's dry, want to take advantage of the creek access, and do not have campers that require a decent amount of space (without looking in the window of your neighbor).
It is rare for me to offer negative feedback, but this particular location could use a lot of infrastructure work and still wants to charge a premium price.

Great place for your RV, the staff is really friendly and accommodating. The grounds were in good shape and the lodge which use to be for members only, is now open to the public! We will definitely return again!

A great RV spot along the creek! Corrie and Eileen helped us get situated and also helped with the logistics of adding another day. The cafe and general store are under new management, and those folks were great as well! We enjoyed driving up to Lake Berryessa, went to the Visitor Center at Dufer Point and had a great conversation with the ranger there.

I love camping at this resort. Everyone is so kind and helpful and the other campers are just as happy to be here as you are. I’ve just spent three weeks here and I’m sad that it’s time to go home.
All staff has been great, especially Security.
Bernie, you are truly appreciated! Not only lending my grandson your favorite pencil for his homework, but then going out and buying him a very special one of his own. It was so nice of you!!!
I’m also thankful that we now have a store that’s open every day, well stocked, and the staff truly appreciates your business. I hope to be back soon! 🏕️🧡. Thank you Canyon Creek.

My family and I have been going to CCR for many years now. Have been members for 15+ years. Unfortunately we have watch the place deteriorate. Unorganized, unsafe, and lack of attention to activities like Halloween this past weekend. Everyone met at the deck and then had to cross the way too busy street to start trick or treating, and then were left to their own devices in sections B and C! It's never been that way, it was a free for all. Note: the city of Winters will be hearing from us about the danger the road poses. For ALL of those 15+ years, we have been complaining about the speed with which people drive that road!
Change in check out time, what is with 11am? This is far earlier than the 2pm check out that long timers are used to. And an email that tells you how to make sure your sight looks when you leave? Insulting at best. Not to mention, what if you have no internet, you won't see the email until you are long. I addition, A section has a treacherous water leak that looks like it has been there a while. What is our annual fee and quarterly dues going to? Are you trying to push out those few of us that still have memberships? That we are not ready to give up?
On a better note, the new store is amazing. The grilling in front of the store is as well. Oh and new picnic tables were noticed, thank you (we have been asking for this for years!) Oh and the office being open until 10pm is wonderful!
My suggestion is to get better organized with the events that we so loved over the years. And to consider those that have longevity with this camp ground! Better care of the actual grounds is in desperate need as well.
