Best spot in the campground, near to Merced river. Incredible water temperature. What this campground needs is a shower building somewhere. To have a shower you have to pay the swimming pool in Curry Village and they are not good…

We had a nice shady spot with plenty of space between us and our neighbors. It was close to two shuttle stops, and showers were easy to find in Curry Village. We walked back to camp after hiking the mist trail because it was only a mile, and very flat, and the shuttle line was long in the afternoon. The campground itself was quiet but we were near the main road and people start parking and opening/closing car doors at 4:00am on the weekends, so that made it hard to sleep in.

The camp ground was well kept and in great condition. We have an RV, so can't comment on the restroom/ shower facilities. Great job NPS!

This site has ZERO shade. Ironically, the restrooms around it are under tree cover. Go figure. In August the sun starts beating down around 9 AM and continues until about 6:30 PM.
The river was a saving grace as we’re El Cap meadows and happy Isles area.

The campsite was roomy but 3 of the large trees had been cut down so there wasn't as much shade as I had hoped. The bathrooms were fairly close and for the most part were fairly clean.

The location? Hard to beat! But let me be honest with you. It is SO sunny. Before 5pm, the sun was beating down on us the entire day.
Also, make sure when you're unpacking/packing, you NEVER LEAVE YOUR CAR/TRAILER/RV/TENT DOOR OPEN! Even for just a few minutes!
The squirrels were so aggressive, that one of those fat f**ks snuck into our car. You seriously cannot make this up. Thankfully, our friend let us know because he saw it jump in, but can you imagine if we started driving off without knowing??
TL;DR: BEAUTIFUL location. A lot of space between you and neighbors, too. Incredible views of the granite cliffs and pines, and great distance from the bathroom (not too close, not too far away). F**k those squirrels, though. Seriously.
