What Guests Are Saying
Tuolumne Meadows Campground offers beautiful scenery, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff, making it a great base for exploring Yosemite. Visitors appreciate the educational campfire talks, proximity to the river, and ranger-led programs. However, some campers noted the campground can be crowded, and bathroom facilities are limited, with a long walk to restrooms for some sites.

It's hard to give Yosemite a bad review but you also need to realize what the campground is like and what you should expect. My negatives of this review is that the campground lots are CLOSE to each other... like you need to understand that your neighbors are close. The other negative is in the reservation process for Tuolumne site is hard due to there being no cell service and therefore not being able to change or modify reservations is non-existence (unless you have Starlink). We had 1 night reserved and kept asking if there was another night open and kept being told "no" only to find out once we got in cell service that there were multiple sites open but the volunteers and park service employees did not know.

Our site H039 was a walk in site. The group of campsites here were newly made as the campground has been remodeled.
We could not find a flat spot to pitch our tent. They basically put a table and bear box there but failed to do any kind of landscaping. The ground was sloping and very uneven with not one spot suitable for a tent. Also the sites are extremely close together. We didn't even stay, it was that bad.

Awesome campsite. Rangers were very nice and friendly. Campsite is near beautiful meadows with streams, a minute from the nearby store, and 15 min from Tenaya Lake

Awesome site. Kind of on the smaller side though.

Really good camping experience. Love the space and layout of the sites. Our site in section C was in easy walking distance to facilities such as the store and grill. The provision for washing (persons as well as utensils) remains basic (just cold water). It does not take long to adapt, however. Overall, just great.

The walk-to distance from our parking spot to our campsite was very manageable, only about 50 feet and all on a wide gravel pathway. The car was in view and within range of my key fob the entire time. I did wish we had more than one parking spot allotted, my brother joined us a couple nights and he had to park outside the campground at the adjacent EV parking lot.
We were directly across the path from the restroom. I typically don't like being that close but I actually liked being that close this time; very convenient.
Everything at the campsite was brand new due to the recent renovations, including a new picnic table and fire ring. The site was flat and had plenty of tree for our two hammocks.

Tuolumne Meadows Campground provided a great camping experience. I reserved space D006 which is a hike in site. It felt like the site was in the middle of nature, but there was a short 1-minute walk from the parking. The site had a flat area to set up camp, a fire ring, a mobile picnic table, and a bear locker. There are a few trees that can be used to hang a hammock. The bathroom is 5 minute walk from the site. There is a trail between the site and the closest bathroom. You can also get there by walking through the paved road, but it takes a few minutes longer. There are several trails nearby and a market for supplies. The closest shower is in Lee Vining outside of Yosemite Park. Inside of Yosemite Park there are showers at Curry Village which is 1.5 hours away, but it is worth the scenic drive if you got the time. Lots of people take their floaties to relax in the Merced River as well. It's a great site for the family and friends!

I appreciated the helpfulness of the rangers, the quality of the facilities, and the cleanliness of everything!
One recommendation is to adjust the software so that multiple nights in the same campsite can be merged into a single reservation, if they were accrued separately. For example, if I had three nights in a row in campsite G19, but all are under different reservations, then it would be wonderful to be able to merge them all under the same reservation.
Thank you for considering this suggestion!

Beautiful campsite and campground! I was very happy to see space between sites, it didn’t feel like we were packed in.
