What Guests Are Saying
Tuolumne Meadows Campground offers beautiful scenery, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff, making it a great base for exploring Yosemite. Visitors appreciate the educational campfire talks, proximity to the river, and ranger-led programs. However, some campers noted the campground can be crowded, and bathroom facilities are limited, with a long walk to restrooms for some sites.

So pleasant to not be surrounded by smoke like in the valley! Great to see the ranger going around inviting campers to the campfire ring for an educational talk and shared campfire. It would be great to see individual fire rings become a thing of the past and group fire rings the future!
I do wish they would tell you if the driveway was level or not. The photo made it appear level but it absolutely not. Pretty steep and hard to drive up.
Not sure why the stairs were placed where they were. They went up to nowhere and then you had to take a hard right to the site. Interesting placement.
Nicely updated gravel parking spaces!

This specific site floods significantly after the reopening of the campground. An august storm rolled into this campground while we were out hiking and we came back to this whole site (and especially the large tent area) submerged under up to 8 inches of water. We had to bail early because everything was soaked. This site needs to be re-graded or proper drainage added as it seems like the A loop drains into this site. Expect issues if rain is in your forecast at this site.
Otherwise, this site is okay. It's next to a heavily used bathroom so expect to see lots of headlamps shining your way when even when in your tent.

After being closed for renovations for years, the campground has fewer sites suitable for vans or small rv’s (don’t even try to bring a large rv). If you are tent camping, be prepared for a long walk to the bathroom. The number of facilities have always been inadequate for 300 campsites spread over a mile, and the renovations didn’t help that at all.

Everyone was great at the campsite! We especially appreciated the helpful rangers and the clean and appropriate sites and bathrooms. Despite the helpful staff the loss of the old charm of a rustic site was not helped by paving and the new riverside of A loop, if needed to prevent septic leaks and make site more accessible as well as to help with repairs.

Great over all campground, only thing I would say is that campgrounds aren’t cleaned after others I known campers should pick up after them self but that’s not that case I had some trash in my fire pit and around the campground. But that’s my only complaint.

The weather was glorious and during the campground’s years of closure many upgrades were put in place. These included new picnic tables, leveled tent sites, graveled parking areas, reflective numbering of the site, larger food storage bear boxes and in some places it seemed like enlarging of the site. Thanks Park Service!

This is an incredible location for a campground and our site was great. I am taking away one star because the fire pit was smoking when we arrived and at no time did I see a ranger touring the campground. Volunteer staff were checking us in. This left me concerned that recent cuts under Doge have affected paid staff's ability to maintain the campground.
