What Guests Are Saying
Tuolumne Meadows Campground offers beautiful scenery, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff, making it a great base for exploring Yosemite. Visitors appreciate the educational campfire talks, proximity to the river, and ranger-led programs. However, some campers noted the campground can be crowded, and bathroom facilities are limited, with a long walk to restrooms for some sites.

The campground looked fantastic!. I think it had just re-opened since the renovations/work was done on it. We noticed bathrooms that were either new or re-done, pathways through the campground that had been cleared, had bark (or maybe it was just wide dirt paths?) but had good signage, etc. There were also ropes and stakes put up in some places to designate campsites, and overall we were so happy with the work that was done. I'm hoping we humans don't ruin it all too quickly. Tuolumne is a magical place and I hope we can preserve it for many more generations to come!

The rangers were very helpful in changing our reservation so we didn't have to move campsites every night.

It is wonderful to have the campground back - it's gorgeous as usual. We stayed in the backpackers campground as permitted before a multi-day hike. It was difficult to find a spot as every spot was already full, so we had to ask someone to share their spot. As the afternoon went on it got more and more crowded. There were no rangers to check that people actually had permits, so it was crowded and a bit of a free for all. The bathroom was nice, and the campground looks nice after its rehabilitation.

The new reservation system, although I understand is partly due to lack of staffing, makes it impossible to stay in the same site even if there are openings. At noon it seems that half the campers had to move from one site to another in order to stay another night. Please bring back the old system of campsite assignment upon arrival and walk up reservations. On a positive note, I want to acknowledge the hard work of the rangers managing the kiosk and the great campfire programs.
