About Tuolumne Meadows Campground

Tuolumne Meadows Campground recently had a complete overhaul and rehabilitation of the campsites. Please be mindful of young plants and shrubs by keeping all wheels on parking pads and camping equipment within established campsites. Thank you!Tuolumne Meadows Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 8,600 feet. The site is situated along the scenic Tioga Road just five miles from the Tioga Pass Entrance Station. Within Yosemite, visitors can gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas, and so much more.Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. The recreation.gov call center does NOT have access to additional sites or additional information beyond what is published on recreation.gov.

Was sad to see that the bathrooms were not upgraded and expanded to accommodate the additional people from the added sites. Roads were in better condition.

In the past, once you had a campsite reserved, you were able to extend your stay. Now, you need a separate reservation for each new night, which means moving campsites potentially several times. This is chaotic and not camper-friendly. Please bring back the old system of having first-come-first-served sites, and being able to extend your stay. I realize that budget cuts mean fewer rangers, but this new system creates even more work for them. I watched the Tuolumne rangers scrambling to move campers every day. Glad the campsite is back open though! A big shout out to the rangers!! <3

Very large, hilly campground takes a long time to drive through and most drivers go way too fast. Still a fair amount of loose dirt blowing around the site due to the recent construction. This particular site is very close to a restroom and could benefit from a privacy fence. Some hiking available from the campground. Surprised to find some limited cell service.

Tuolumne Meadows is stunning! Though the campground is somewhat large I felt like I had plenty of space and privacy. I felt there could be a few more “bathrooms”.
The people running the campground were very informative, helpful and friendly!

Tuolumne Meadows was our first stay in Yosemite and we found this site to be everything we wanted. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and provided us with a map of the campground. Our site was spacious and flat, with access to nice, clean toilets and in walking distance to pretty walking trails and a general store. Would definitely recommend this site for those wanting to get away from the tourists of Yosemite valley sites and enjoy the wilderness!

I love this campground in one of my favorite places in the world. All the rangers and volunteers at the kiosk were so nice and helpful in spite of the totally inconvenient changes to the reservation system. We had four different campsites in one week. You cannot stay in same site as always was the case unless you are supremely lucky with your initial reservation, but must wait around until noon when tons of people are having to switch sites. Please bring back the old "first come first served" system that avoids this craziness!!!!

We were there at the tail end of the August monsoon storms just as people were cleaning up and drying out. The rangers and campers seemed to be really happy to be there after the long closure. We hiked to May Lake and to Cathedral Lake in between the storms.

Wow!! I can't think of anything negative to say. We were really looking forward to the opening of Tuolumne and everything exceeded expectations.
The campsite was wonderful. New picnic bench and bear box, the campsite was well-groomed, the campground facilities were well-maintained throughout our the 3 days were there.
There was a nice range of hikes depending on what you wanted to see and how far you wanted to.
Being above the valley was really helpful for stargazing -- so much more peaceful than camping in the valley.
