Group Campsite B is awful. It’s all torn up, very little shade. There is no way that you can fit 30 people there. No showers, bathrooms are inadequate for the amount of people in the campground.
This is one of the most popular campground in CA. You guys can do better, especially after shutting it down and renovating it.

This campground is worse than trying to camp at a a state fair if you go over a weekend. Very disappointing how close to the road the group sites are and the additional sound that carries. I unfortunately heard a baby screaming for an hour and a half through the night. It was probably several loops away but everything echoes. Proximity to Great hikes is the best thing this campground has going for it.

The campground staff and rangers were all very helpful, knowledgeable, and very friendly. We loved the nightly ranger campfires and other ranger activities!

This was our third trip to Tuolumne Meadows, and our first since the reopening. This visit definitely felt different, but I think that’s due to changing camper behavior and federal budget cuts. Every staff member we interacted with was fantastic, although it did seem like the restroom in our loop (B) wasn’t maintained as often as needed. But the main issue was the noise and crowding. The sites are very close together and kids near us were screaming all day and night. Not just typical happy kid noise. Literally screaming as they played. As a result, it was hard to just relax or read at the campsite. I’m guessing it’s different in non-summer months, so we’d like to come back in a different season.
All that being said, Tuolumne Meadows is one of the most spectacular places in the world. Despite the crowded campground, it is easy to find a quiet trail and lose yourself in the awe-inspiring surroundings. And despite the dispiriting federal budget cuts, the rangers and other staff are working hard to keep sharing Yosemite’s wonders with visitors and I admire all they do in these challenging times.

5-Star Camping Experience at Tuolumne Meadows Campground.
Camping at Tuolumne Meadows was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the crisp mountain air and breathtaking high-country views made it clear we were in for something special. The campground is surrounded by sweeping alpine meadows, granite domes, and crystal-clear rivers that seem like they’ve been untouched for centuries.
The campsites were well-spaced, giving us both privacy and a sense of community. At night, the sky came alive with stars—so many that we lost count—and the Milky Way was visible without any special equipment. During the day, we explored nearby hiking trails that offered everything from easy walks along the Tuolumne River to more challenging climbs with panoramic views of Yosemite’s high country.
What really made the trip stand out was the peacefulness. Even in the peak of summer, it felt serene and unhurried. Waking up to the sound of birds, the scent of pine, and the sight of morning mist over the meadow was unforgettable.
If you’re looking for a true escape into nature, where you can recharge, hike, and experience some of Yosemite’s most stunning scenery without the crowds of the valley, Tuolumne Meadows is absolutely worth the trip. We can’t wait to return.
After being closed for renovations for the past three years, Tuolumne Meadows has finally reopened—and it was worth the wait. The scenery is still as breathtaking as ever, but what really made the experience special was the people. Every ranger we met was incredibly accommodating and friendly, greeting us with genuine warmth. It felt less like checking into a campground and more like reuniting with long-lost family. The combination of pristine nature, thoughtful improvements, and the heartfelt welcome made this trip unforgettable.

It was my first time staying overnight in Yosemite and I had a great experience! Friendly park rangers and nice facilities surrounded by nature's beauty. Don't miss the ranger talks and stargazing on a clear night. Can't wait to go back!

The new campgrounds are clean and well cared for. The bathrooms are nice also. We even had some Nice wood left for us
