About Tuolumne Meadows Campground

Tuolumne Meadows Campground recently had a complete overhaul and rehabilitation of the campsites. Please be mindful of young plants and shrubs by keeping all wheels on parking pads and camping equipment within established campsites. Thank you!Tuolumne Meadows Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 8.6 ft. The site is situated along the scenic Tioga Road just five miles from the Tioga Pass Entrance Station. Within Yosemite, visitors can gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas, and so much more.Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. The recreation.gov call center does NOT have access to additional sites or additional information beyond what is published on recreation.gov.

Tuolumne Meadows Campground offers beautiful scenery, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff, making it a great base for exploring Yosemite. Visitors appreciate the educational campfire talks, proximity to the river, and ranger-led programs. However, some campers noted the campground can be crowded, and bathroom facilities are limited, with a long walk to restrooms for some sites.

Nice site, but a lot of pedestrian traffic, not very private. We loved the ranger talk. Bathrooms are clean but they need soup, hanging hooks and light for the night.

Check in staff very helpful, nice new bear boxes and tables, really appreciate separation of RVs from tents, plenty of hiking from the campground ( Elizabeth Lake is a gem). Bathrooms can be quite a walk depending where you are in the campground but well maintained

Absolutely loved this place. Quality of Rangers and people here was beyond what we expected. I highly recommend coming here, especially if you like grilling your food in the campground and have pets.

Been camping in Tuolumne meadows campground for fifty plus years. In the past half of the 300 sites were first come first serve. Today sites are only available online. We always got a site when the old system was in place. We just camped there last two weeks. We had to change sites five times and only got the new sites by waiting by the kiosk for hours in hopes someone would cancel. Not much fun but we love Tuolumne. We would love to spend more time enjoying the great park but we had to limit our activities so we could have a place to sleep. Some of the recent improvements were nice. The personnel were kind and helpful but short handed as most of the previous rangers left due to Covid or other changes that made it unattractive to stay. Please keep trying to help the park return to it's prior level of management and visitor appreciation. Yosemite represents as a symbol of how great a national park can be. The employees deserve to be treated fairly and compensated appropriately. Thanks for listening

It was a great weekend trip. The river next to comp site was unbelievable. We made a trip to Tanaya Lake which was about 15 mi from campsite. The weather was on cold side during September.

My favorite campground in the park along 120.
Pros:
Perfect location for trail access, visitor center inquiries, and quick food from the grill store next door if you are too exhausted to cook after a full day's trekking.
We didn't know there would be campfire events but they turned out to be a pleasant surprise! Love the story time with rangers and highly recommend if it happens during your stay--bring a warm blanket.
Cons:
Considering the scale of the campground and how it's fully occupied everyday, I do wish there were more restrooms built.
(There are some porta-potties set up in the campground so obviously the management realized the lack of restrooms is an issue there....)
Unlike in the valley, there is no cell signal AT ALL. We camped along 120 before, so we kinda came knowing this--not a big deal. If this is your first time here, be mentally prepared and enjoy the isolation!

Great campground. Be aware that the campsites can be pretty far away from the campground entrance or the store, so take that into account if you're walking to any trailheads. The site was fine with o.k. privacy. The fire pits were nice with two levels of grates. Bathrooms were serviceable, though I do not understand why they don't have lights. Be sure to bring your headlamp for late night visits to the toilet.
