Beautiful spot right next to the river - quiet, meadow full of wildflowers.
It was confusing on arrival as site 10 is before the check in booth and there were cones across the driveway with no instructions on being able to move them.

The ability to make a same day reservation was a nice surprise. Facilities were fine, staff was great. The only problem was that we have a roof-top tent, there were rocks preventing us from pulling our vehicle into the camp spot (which was level) and the parking space was on a slant, so we didn’t have a level tent for the night.

I had no problems with cellphone reception. The walking tour of old Wawona Village with Yosemite Foundation Rep. Brian Shoor was an informative historical experience.

The rangers weren't kidding when they said the bears come down the hill and through this campsite first. We woke up in the middle of a rainy night hearing bears going door-to-door at each bear box looking to see who slipped and didn't lock up. But besides that (and the rain), this site is fair to good. It is a bit on a slope, so there is limited "flat" area for tents. But it makes for a great campfire overlooking the other campsites at night. Parking is good, and your car(s) will essentially be at the "bottom of the hill" :) Cell service is supposedly only Verizon. However, I just learned some new phones can get limited satellite coverage (T-Mobile and Google-Fi Pixel 10 phones in our group worked) that lets you send/receive texts.
Overall this was a great experience for camping in a less busy area of the park. You're in nature, by the river, lots of trees, campfire, food, s'mores, friends, and that's what we were here for.

I loved our stay at wawona campground. The camping spots are really really spacious and feels private. Recommend 100%.

Great location. The sound of the Merced River nearby is peaceful and lull you to sleep. A lot to do nearby.
Just be aware that there are no showers and can take up to an hour to go down to Housekeeping Camp to do so.
Valley shuttles are horrible. Be prepared to wait up to an hour for a shuttle to arrive and another hour to get to your destination. Drivers are pretty rude. One driver abandoned us waiting in line because they didn't want to deal with an individual who cut in line and wouldn't leave.

Site at Wawona Campground was fantastic! Campground was super quiet and site was right on the river. Bathroom was clean and conveniently located by our site. Beautiful spot!

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Follow signs to Wawona. The campground is located 8 miles north of the South Entrance station on Highway 41, and 27 miles south of Yosemite Valley.

- You are responsible for reading the following information and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 375-9535; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bear Habitat! Food and toiletries must be stored in provided food lockers. Absolutely NO food or scented items stored in vehicles. Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.
- Potable water at the dump station (located one mile south of the campground) is only available during summer months.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
