Wawona Campground

Wawona was an excellent spot to stay! We got lucky and snagged three concurrent nights at the same site. The park was very clean, the facilities were very clean, and it was so quiet. The park staff were all so nice and even gave us some natural history about the endangered black oaks when we checked in. Yes, it's a trek from the big attractions in the valley, but honestly, the drive back and forth is so beautiful and allowed us to see other parts of the park that some may miss. Its proximity to Mariposa Grove was also great. I highly recommend this campground!

I never went to the campground and requested a refund but got no answer. The reservation was by mistake.

The campsite was less crowded spacially and people-wise than Yosemite Valley campgrounds are so more peaceful but not nearly as nice as our experience at Kings Canyon a few days before.

We had the pleasure of staying over Mothers Day weekend.
The site fit our 34ft RV plus a Vehicle with room to spare. Generator hours are brutal. Investigate how long your RV can handle Geni off before it impacts your battery. We brought solar panels to help.
The Spot appeared to be more spacious than most. It was flat and good fit for large tents as well.
Because this site is close to other sites that accomodate RVs, I would not want to stay here in a tent as its close to the road and the main road from the entrance to the campground, so its noisier and next to the Rangers. Our RV insulated some but RVs leaving early woke us up most mornings. If you are staying in a tent, I recommend the last loop. Its less RV friendly and mostly people in Tents.
The section of River here is not swimable, too many rocks and fast flowing. Best section of river to swim in is at the last loop. Hope this review helps!

Beautiful spot by the river! It seemed more spacious than others around us. But do not expect much privacy as people will walk through your site to get to the river. The bathrooms were clean. Rangers were friendly. Excellent camping closer to the Mariposa grove and Wawona.

This was the quietest national park campground I've ever experienced after dark. Parking area was only slightly sloped. Restroom was clean and only a short walk away.

The campground has 3 loops; we were in the A loop which is closest to the entrance. Our site was right above the river with a little path for access to the water - quite lovely. Park staff were on site during the day, and the facilities were nicely maintained. Some campers didn't follow the quiet time rules, with their generators running well past the 9pm deadline to turn them off - one neighbor had theirs going until well past 10pm, and started it before 7am. Otherwise, it was a great campground.
Also, there is absolutely no cell service available (we have AT&T).

The campground worked out great for us. Like most we needed to be level with our camper van, be sure to bring what you need to level your rig as many sites seemed to require that. If you can manage to get toward the back of the campground we felt much more secluded (further from the road/road noise etc).
