Wawona Campground

Great campsite! It's right in-between two sites, but super spacious/spread out and you can walk down to the river right from the site. We went mid-June on weekdays and our neighbors were always quiet/kept to their area. It would get hot (but not unbearable) and very cold at night!!

However, the river access right in front is more of the rougher part of the river (fast with lots of rocks), as opposed to further downstream where the water is very calm. I preferred it in the end though because the water was like white noise and definitely a lesser chance of mosquitoes. There was also good shade since there were tall trees right next to the bear box/table/firepit.

The campgrounds itself are sooo peaceful and calm, bathrooms were extremely clean (from our campsite it was only a short walk across the road) and they're regular toilets!

Driving into the valley took about 45 minutes one-way, but the trip is beautiful. TIP: If you need free wifi, head to the Wawona Library down the road. Even if it's closed you can get wifi if you're in the parking lot. :)

Best first Yosemite trip ever!!

Had flush toilets, spacious campground, and great river access. Would stay here again.

Wawona campground was amazing! We loved how it was close enough to see all the sights but still be on our own little secluded campground. The bear boxes had plentyyyyy of space which was great!

The campsite was nice, with a fire pit and a picnic table, although our site was not completely level. There were no showers on the camping. The restrooms were not so clean. Good location, about a 10 min drive to the mariposa grove, and 40 min to the Yosemite Valley. We saw some shooting stars aswell.

Loved being next to the river. My site (B31) wasn't very roof top tent friendly, but no problem if you have levelers if you're planning to car/RV camp. The site and campgrounds themselves are awesome. Say hi to your neighbors :)

We enjoyed our stay here. The campsites were clean and well maintained. There were no showers at this campground if I recall correctly. We stayed in a trailer comfortably. Generator hours are limited and intermittent. I respect that because it allows for the sounds of nature to be enjoyed. There were campers who did not comply and ran generators all day. Roads were narrow. The river was beautiful but very cold. All campsites are just a short walk to the river. If you can get a riverfront campsite, you can sleep to the sound of the water. The drive to the valley was about 35 minutes. The drive to the market, gas station, visitors center and dump station was about 5 minutes or less. Mariposa Grove was about 10 or 15 minutes away and offered easy access trails to view the beautiful sequoias. The shuttle system here was by far the best of all in Yosemite. Overall, I really liked it here. I would definitely stay here again.

Worst parking size in wawana. Every other site you could fit 3 super duty ford f150s this one could barely fit a mailbu and a rouge move a few rocks out since the rest of site has a lot of space. There are rocks stuck in the ground by the tilted bear box and next to the fire pit and picnic table because its disrespectful to move them since the ancient natives sat on those rocks many moons ago but aside from the half of it is in shade and far away enough from the highway.

Decently spaced out. Clean roads and friendly rangers. Bathrooms are very very clean and instructions for the bear locker were thorough. Additionally, if you really need access to your devices, the cell service there is near-perfect.

The site is uneven and you could only park on the edge of the street. Very uncomfortable

Wawona site 40B is a shared site with the neighboring site. There was not really a good area to put up our tent - it was so sloped. The water is essentially inaccessible from this site as there is a steep slope to get down to it. We were about as far away from the bathrooms as you could be within this campground so bathroom trips either were planned by a long walk or a drive to go. We would not stay at this site again if we could help it.
