The campground is of course in Yosemite so automatic win. Wawaona is by a really nice creek that we enjoyed. However site 10 and our loop was in a very poor state. The weeds were not managed AT ALL making the large space barely useable. Site 7 looked like it had not been used in years. It was full sun, as mentioned, but a large tree helped out in the afternoon. This loop is right by the entrance. I still recommend the campground just choose a higher site number for shade and hopefully less weeds.

We enjoyed our relaxing, quiet, and flat site right on the river away from all the crowds. Helpful and knowledgeable rangers and volunteers. Wawona is the best!

Restrooms were super clean, campsite was not leveled/flat! Great place to camp, super close to river. Feels great to sleep hearing the river's sound and float around.

This is such a magical campground next to a beautiful river perfect to swim in on a hot summer day. The bajillion mosquito bites I got were a small price to pay for a slice of heaven!
If you are a solo/small group camping with a tent, the b loop is the best. Plenty of shade, far enough away from the Main Street, away from all the giant rvs with loud generators in the c loop, and has such a delightful area to enter the river.
The a loop has shade for like 2 hours and is right next to the street so you can hear cars going by at all times of the day and night.

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Follow signs to Wawona. The campground is located 8 miles north of the South Entrance station on Highway 41, and 27 miles south of Yosemite Valley.

General
- You are responsible for reading the following information and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 375-9535; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bear Habitat! Food and toiletries must be stored in provided food lockers. Absolutely NO food or scented items stored in vehicles. Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.
- Potable water at the dump station (located one mile south of the campground) is only available during summer months.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
