The campsite was less crowded spacially and people-wise than Yosemite Valley campgrounds are so more peaceful but not nearly as nice as our experience at Kings Canyon a few days before.

Wawona was an excellent spot to stay! We got lucky and snagged three concurrent nights at the same site. The park was very clean, the facilities were very clean, and it was so quiet. The park staff were all so nice and even gave us some natural history about the endangered black oaks when we checked in. Yes, it's a trek from the big attractions in the valley, but honestly, the drive back and forth is so beautiful and allowed us to see other parts of the park that some may miss. Its proximity to Mariposa Grove was also great. I highly recommend this campground!

Great campsite! Close to the river which was running quite fast. It’s also not too far of a walk from car parking so dont let that deter you. Bathroom also a short walk away (flush toilets and sink.. what a luxury!)

Very poor site, we couldn’t find a flat ground to pitch the tent - the slope of the site is too steep.
In the middle of the night after sleeping we woke up and were searching g for some flat ground to move our tent. It shouldn’t have been a site at all.

When I got to my campsite, there was an empty box and a burnt wood on the fire pit. I expect someone to clean up before the next guest if the previous one didn't completely clean up themselves. The Men's restroom wasn't cleaned either. Other than that, the campsite was good. It was quiet. I saw some rangers checking the other sites for people who leave their food unattended and placed it to the bear box themselves. They were welcoming during the check in too.

This campground is very nice. River runs along one side. I didn't camp right next to the river, but even across on the other side of the campground I could still hear the river (which to me is a plus). There are approx 100 sites, speard between 3 loops. I was at the far end of the farthest loop, which I loved - less cars going by. The campsites are spaced nicely.

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Follow signs to Wawona. The campground is located 8 miles north of the South Entrance station on Highway 41, and 27 miles south of Yosemite Valley.
Elevation: 1784 feet
59 mi drive to downtown Yosemite National Park (about 1 hr 43 min)

General
- You are responsible for reading the following information and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 375-9535; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bear Habitat! Food and toiletries must be stored in provided food lockers. Absolutely NO food or scented items stored in vehicles. Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.
- Potable water at the dump station (located one mile south of the campground) is only available during summer months.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
