We lucked out with a last min reservation in June and it was perfect! The campsite (003) was close to a great spot in the river to swim, was shady, felt secluded, yet still right across from the bathrooms, and had plenty of space for our 6-person tent. This was our first time in Yosemite and we were just thrilled with the spot. The Ranger Talk was super informative and even our squirmy 5-year old listened to the whole thing. Great time! I do recommend bringing some firewood as both times we went to the store down the road, it was sold out.

The campground had everything we needed. No showers but we knew that before booking. The rangers were great and helped us to book another night when a cancellation occurred. Location was great, around 40 mins from main visiting area of Yosemite

Pretty large site with a couple options to place tent. Next to the river, although no clear walkway to make it down directly from site. A bit of a walk from the bathroom, nothing major. Close proximity to water source for washing

Enjoyed our experience. Close to attractions like horse back riding, golfing, pioneer town & dog friendly Mariposa loop trail

Beautiful and clean campground. Love that they have some spots along the river.
Only drawback is that it’s about 45 minutes to drive into Yosemite Valley and there are no showers .
But would definitely go again!

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the Park. It goes under everyone's radar because the prettiest sites are not visible from the road. There are sites deep in the campground that border the river that give you that amazing wilderness feeling even though there are amenities just a mile down the road. Special mention: Fabulous swim and wade spots on the riverbank. Take time to explore and find the perfect one that suits you. A true antidote to the crowds/ hustle and bustle of the Valley!

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Follow signs to Wawona. The campground is located 8 miles north of the South Entrance station on Highway 41, and 27 miles south of Yosemite Valley.

General
- You are responsible for reading the following information and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 375-9535; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bear Habitat! Food and toiletries must be stored in provided food lockers. Absolutely NO food or scented items stored in vehicles. Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.
- Potable water at the dump station (located one mile south of the campground) is only available during summer months.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
- Help Yosemite be a Zero Landfill park! Leave excess packaging at home. Use refillable water and propane bottles, food containers and travel mugs. Place all of your recyclable waste in designated recycling containers. For more information go to: https://www.nps.gov/yose/getinvolved/zlf.htm
