The campsites are well-maintained, with clean restrooms and friendly staff contributing to a pleasant experience. When will the National Park Service quit letting the 5% of generator users spoil the quiet for the 95% that want a peaceful experience when we are camping in a National Park? Morning generator hours at Black Rock start at 7am, so one rig with a generator can spoil the early morning for everyone in the nearest 30 sites. And this is a park that probably has 300 days of sun so solar panels and batteries are a no-brainer. Very disappointing.

We used Blackrock Campground for a base during our visit to JTNP. The campground offers shade (via Joshua Trees), clean restrooms, and a Nature Center staffed by a very friendly counter person. Blackrock is also home to a number of dayhike trailheads which offer great views of the park and valley. Note, however, that there is no electric hookups at any of the site; running potable water is available at each restroom and there are water faucets scattered around the campground. Easy drive to stores, restaurants, and the park entrance .

The hiking trails from BlackRock campground are wonderful. Get out on the trails early and enjoy! I like that this campground is in Yucca Valley as there are plenty of restaurants to enjoy. In the winter when it gets dark early it is nice to enjoy a dinner in town.
