Site was beautiful and dog friendly. Its sort of secluded from the rest of joshua tree which is a con but mostly my fault for not looking into the location more.

Neighboring campers were obnoxious with loud music, talking into late hours, and running their trucks loud engine at midnight and 6 AM. Campground layout places campers far too close together. Facilities were adequate aside from a broken soap dispenser in the bathroom. Check-in staff was pleasant and helpful.

When will the National Park Service quit letting the 5% of generator users spoil the quiet for the 95% that want a peaceful experience when we are camping in a National Park? Morning generator hours at Black Rock start at 7am, so one rig with a generator can spoil the early morning for everyone in the nearest 30 sites. And this is a park that probably has 300 days of sun so solar panels and batteries are a no-brainer. Very disappointing.

Take Interstate 10 to Route 62 into the town of Yucca Valley. Turn south on Joshua Lane and follow signs to campground, about five miles from the turn.
If coming south on Highway 247, go straight across Highway 62 and continue onto Joshua Lane. There will be no sign for the park as you cross Route 62.
Black Rock Campground is accessible via Interstate 10 and Route 62. From Interstate 10, take Route 62 into Yucca Valley, then proceed south on Joshua Lane for approximately five miles to reach the campground.
