I camped at Black Rock for six nights and had a great time. The sites are close together but not too close. Town is right outside the campground, which is wonderfully convenient and makes it easy to explore. The campground is tucked away between the ridge lines, so although you can see the lights of Joshua Tree to the north, the sky is clear and the nights are relatively quiet. The Nature Center is great, with a small art gallery and friendly rangers to give recommendations for the area. Hi-view nature trail is a must!

Very nice location close to town with great views. It is about a 30 minute drive to the heart of Joshua tree NP but a nice drive.
Signage in the park could be updated as it is not clear how to drive directly to the correct loop.

The roads within the campground are nearly impassable. The sites are nowhere near level. The bathrooms are disgusting. Would not stay here again.

The campsite was beautiful. Staff was friendly. However, the bathroom was disgusting.
The bathrooms were not cleaned in the four days we were there and in the men’s room one toilet was broken and the other was clogged. Maintenance eventually got out to clear the clog and fix the toilet. The bathroomran out of toilet paper on the fourth day. The Camp host was off the entire period of time we were there.
