I’m sure everyone is aware that this campground is due for an upgrade. Roads need to be rebuilt and the campground could use a redesign. My desires would include more space and privacy between campsites.
The area is beautiful and has so much potential.

Orientation at checking was very professional. Bathrooms were clean and water tasted good. Table, fire pit, and charcoal grill were in great shape. Beautiful Joshua Trees in campsite.

We’ve stayed twice at Jumbo Rocks, so we decided to stay this time at Black Rock. Big mistake. The campsite was extremely off-level. The campground is a relatively long drive from most sights in Joshua Tree. And it wasn’t particularly scenic. We were so dissatisfied we left early and camped outside Joshua Tree.

Getting There
Take Interstate 10 to Route 62 into the town of Yucca Valley. Turn south on Joshua Lane and follow signs to campground, about five miles from the turn.

If coming south on Highway 247, go straight across Highway 62 and continue onto Joshua Lane. There will be no sign for the park as you cross Route 62.
Highway access
Black Rock Campground is accessible via Interstate 10 and Route 62. From Interstate 10, take Route 62 into Yucca Valley, then proceed south on Joshua Lane for approximately five miles to reach the campground.
