The sites were clean and well maintained. Helpful Rangers were able to share information about the trails and campgrounds. Toilet was clean and stocked and the views were worth the trip.

Absolutely loved our experience here. Our campground was very large and clean. The bathrooms were also very clean. Had a fun time going on the beautiful hikes right in the campground. The Joshua Trees are BEAUTIFUL. Although the roads are a bit bumpy, we had no issues at all - just drive slow and steady. Will definitely come back!

Nice clean site near bathrooms, large enough for 2 cars but not completely level. Fire pit, grill, and picnic table were in good condition. Overall good!

Overall a really nice campground. Basic facilities were clean and sites were spacious. We tent camped and had no one directly next to us. Unfortunately others in the campground were very loud and disrespectful with drinking and music late into the morning, no monitoring of quiet hours. Also didn’t realize you have to drive back out and in to enter the park, not a big deal but just to consider, other campgrounds are within the park. Was nice to have water to fill for hiking next day.

Campground is nice but it was odd that even though every site showed it was sold out online, there were many spots empty.
We were camping for 2 nights with a small RPOD trailer being pulled by a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We also had a Jeep Wrangler to use on dirt and 4wd roads. All fit on the assigned lot driveway of space 61 and 46.
Volunteer host Jim came rushing over 5 mins after we arrived and told us we had to move our Jeep immediately to a lot a distance away because no more than 2 licensed vehicles were allowed per site. We later found out we could have parked in the visitor center parking lot until dark.
We thought the rules are for no more than 2 motorized vehicles per site. The next day we checked with an officer who advised we were right and would advise the Host. Well, the Host Jim pounded on our trailer door the next day and said he would call the police and have us thrown out even though we advised we had spoken with an officer that morning. Not really sure what the rules are as spoke with a Park Ranger over the situation in the visitor center that morning. He initially said the Officer was wrong but when we gave him details of our setup, he was surprised.
We are in our 70s, travel to many National parks and National forest campgrounds and have never been treated like this before.

Take Interstate 10 to Route 62 into the town of Yucca Valley. Turn south on Joshua Lane and follow signs to campground, about five miles from the turn.
If coming south on Highway 247, go straight across Highway 62 and continue onto Joshua Lane. There will be no sign for the park as you cross Route 62.
Black Rock Campground is accessible via Interstate 10 and Route 62. From Interstate 10, take Route 62 into Yucca Valley, then proceed south on Joshua Lane for approximately five miles to reach the campground.
