Very nice location close to town with great views. It is about a 30 minute drive to the heart of Joshua tree NP but a nice drive.
Signage in the park could be updated as it is not clear how to drive directly to the correct loop.

I camped at Black Rock for six nights and had a great time. The sites are close together but not too close. Town is right outside the campground, which is wonderfully convenient and makes it easy to explore. The campground is tucked away between the ridge lines, so although you can see the lights of Joshua Tree to the north, the sky is clear and the nights are relatively quiet. The Nature Center is great, with a small art gallery and friendly rangers to give recommendations for the area. Hi-view nature trail is a must!

Loved this site! It was at the end, relatively flat, and close to the bathrooms but no so close you heard the doors. Would definitely stay at Black Rock and this campsite again.

This spot was really cool but not for our campervan. The campground is awesome for being able to access the park and the town of Joshua Tree.
