Black Rock Campground

The spot was great, clean and had a great view, clean, and bathroom were too far away. The fire pit was in good condition, the bench too.

Everything was clean, the vibe was quiet and peaceful, the facilities were running well. This site is close-ish to Yucca Valley, so the stargazing isn't quite as good as when you're in the heart of the park or closer to the Mojave preserve, but it's useful for if you forget anything and need to run to the store. :)

I didn’t realize this campground was outside the Park. It’s a short drive from Yucca entrance. Campground has vault toilets, and each site has a concrete table and fire ring. Host was helpful in helping me find my spot, as I arrived in the dark and didn’t know the layout. Sites are well marked.

The map is misleading. It shows our campsite on the right side of the map but it’s actually on the left side and very close to #71. Not what I was expecting at all. If you are looking for a little privacy don’t choose this site. This site is perfect if you want to group up with site #71 for a bigger group. Other than that our stay was wonderful and I give thanks to our neighbors who were very kind campers and generous but that might not be the case for everyone. Also a big plus was how quiet and peaceful it got at curfew everyone was very considerate. The restrooms were a small walk away and very clean. The picnic table is big and it has a fire pit as well as a grill. I would definitely come back and camp again just at a different site.

This particular site #30 is secluded from other campsites and have more privacy after dark. I went in the end week of December so it was very cold in the night, but warm during the day. The night sky was partly cloudy but still we were lucky to see so many stars and it was amazing. As others have said, visiting this national park once is not enough, so we have booked again to see stars in the night sky.

It was an outstanding experience, especially for a first-time camper like me. Flushing toilets, proximity to the Nature Center, and the camping ground not too far away from the city were added benefits. It would have been nice if the fellow campers were quieter in the middle of the night - some monitoring there would have been nice. One of the generators was on in the middle of the night, which was annoying.
