Overall, we love the trails and the beautiful scenery of Black Rock Canyon. We stayed at the Equestrian Campground where we appreciate the corrals and large parking area. We also appreciate the fact that they allow horses and not bicycles in this area and on the trails. We stayed in the far lower corner because it is the flattest, but it is also the furthest from the manure pile and water. They only have one source of water, not to mention the hike to the bathrooms. They have no electrical hook-ups, so you need to be self-contained. The hikers are also parking in the horse area, by the lower corrals and along that fence. It made it hard to maneuver our Living Quarters Horse Trailer around in the spot. You are not in the main branch of this National Park, and you are closer to town. We have been riding this area for many years now and hope to continue to.

camp was clean and roomy, more corrals would be nice or high line poles. trails are well marked and in good condition.

The weather was perfect.The corrals were great. You still have to haul water from a centrally located spot but it works. We wish they had a portable toilet there. That would be nice.

Take Interstate 10 to Route 62 into the town of Yucca Valley. Turn south on Joshua Lane and follow signs to campground, about five miles from the turn.
If coming south on Highway 247, go straight across Highway 62 and continue onto Joshua Lane. There will be no sign for the park as you cross Route 62.
Access to Black Rock Equestrian Campground is via Interstate 10 and Route 62. The campground can be reached by turning south on Joshua Lane from Route 62 in Yucca Valley.
