What Guests Are Saying
Black Rock Equestrian Campground is highly praised for its spacious, flat lot suitable for multiple rigs and convenient corrals available on a first-come, first-served basis. Campers enjoy well-marked trails, beautiful scenery, and the friendly atmosphere with hikers who respect equestrian space. Suggestions for improvement include adding a port-a-potty and providing easier access to water and manure disposal.

Black Rock Equestrian Camp is exactly what I want...peace and quiet, great trail experiences and beautiful skies day and night. I was very pleased to get a call prior to going to remind me that I needed horses to camp there, and upon arrival to be checked in and on. But after hours people did come in and park that did not have horses and set up camp.
When the "hosts" did check in on us, we asked if there could be a break in the split rail fence so that we didn't have to crawl over it to get up to the bathrooms and ranger station. Also...hopefully in time there could possibly be another hose bib within the site so that extremely long connected hoses don't need to be drug all over? Just a suggestion that would really help. Otherwise, we are all pretty well self contained.
We don't need corrals or bathrooms...love primitive camping!

Love the campground and the wonderful trails. There is only 1 water spigot in the horse camp and it would be nice to have more so that it would cover more of the campground. The new signs on the trails are great!

I am so grateful for the park being insistent on only horse campers using the area for overnight usage. So grateful you are calling to be sure campers have a horse. Thank you so much. One of the best places to camp in winter with horses. Would like to know how to make reservations for Ryan Camp

I have horse camped at Blackrock for many many years and appreciate that the parks have the horse area to accommodate rigs horses and riders. Please continue to reserve the area for horses as the riding is outstanding with well maintained trails. The horse community is grateful to have such a great area to travel to and enjoy thank you 😊

Very clean. Trails were pristine and lovely sand footing. Having water available was a plus, but make sure to have a way to haul it back to your horses.
