First let me say that I like getting the reminder emails that you must have a horse to camp at the site. Love all of the new trails signs, makes it easy to find my way around the park. Black Rock Equestrian Camp is always nice and clean, I think the equestrians keep it that way because we love it so much. Glad to see the 4 new corrals being used.
WATER: Just wish there was another hose bib closer to that side of the parking area with the new corrals. It is very difficult to haul water over that way for extended stays. Good news is that we had 17 rigs in and there was still room for day use riders!
HIKES: I would like to see a break in the split rail fence so that we could easily walk up to the bathrooms and Visitor Center from the campsite. Not a deal breaker, but for many of us "senior" riders, it is tough.
MIXED USES: The delineation between day use hikers and equestrians is clearly marked but there are still people that pull in with non-equestrian rigs to camp. They don't "get it" that the non-equestrian is right up the road a bit, I guess we need to just point out to them that is what the signs say! Thank you for asking!

Had a great 4 day adventure recently and I was glad to have a camper. There was a short but powerful thunderstorm each afternoon, which is an incredible thing to experience in the desert. I was in the equestrian section and had a wonderful time out on the trails with my horses each day. I love camping there in the fall!

Had a great 4 day adventure recently and I was glad to have a camper. There was a short but powerful thunderstorm each afternoon, which is an incredible thing to experience in the desert. I was in the equestrian section and had a wonderful time out on the trails with my horses each day. I love camping there in the fall!

Enjoyed the new corrals at equestrian campground. It could use more water spickets. It was hard Carrying buckets of water to horses. The campground could also use a potty potty or at least an opening in the fence to the restrooms above the campground.

Take Interstate 10 to Route 62 into the town of Yucca Valley. Turn south on Joshua Lane and follow signs to campground, about five miles from the turn.
If coming south on Highway 247, go straight across Highway 62 and continue onto Joshua Lane. There will be no sign for the park as you cross Route 62.
Access to Black Rock Equestrian Campground is via Interstate 10 and Route 62. The campground can be reached by turning south on Joshua Lane from Route 62 in Yucca Valley.
Elevation: 1231 feet
5.2 mi drive to downtown Yucca Valley (about 11 min)
