Beautiful campground. We had site # 4 for two nights, and it was perfect for a tent. Private space surrounded by aspens, nice small stream right next to the site provided water sounds while sleeping. Close (but not too close) to the restroom, fresh water, and trash. Camp hosts did a great job keeping the place clean and the restrooms tidy and odor free. Loved the 4.5 mi bike ride from the camp to Aspen. Would definitely stay again.

A great location with access right outside of Aspen. Well taken care of. Slightly confusing numbering system but seems to work out fine!

I've been coming to Difficult Campground almost yearly since 1967. It has always offered great campground hosts and this past year was no exception. I visited three times in 2019 each for 5 days and found the activities of the region excellent and campground facilities the best ever. I will return!

The campsite (#45) that we reserved didn’t have enough room for a tent and a camp fire. The ring was about one foot from the tent floor! Could not make a safe fire. When we asked the host she replied: “ so don’t make a fire”.... she was rude and didn’t offered us a different spot... the next morning we left unhappy to a different campground even though we had a reservation for 3 nights at difficult....

We had a great stay at Difficult Campground. The restrooms were immaculate which when tent camping is so very appreciated! We also saw a moose at the trailhead which was such a treat.

Campground has lots of trees so the lots are private. The campground is clean. There is a bike trail/walking trail that goes all the way into town from the campground.
Only downside was that there was no internet access, which some may love, but it made it difficult to look up hikes and such around the area without having to go into town.

Great place to stay near Aspen. Clean; well kept; quiet for the most part. There was one RV camper who listened to loud music. But other than that, the stay was pleasant.
