About Lake Isabel Cabin

Lake Isabel Cabin is ideal for guests who wish to experience camping in the Pike and San Isabel National Forest, yet sleep in a bed with a roof overhead. The modern cabin is full-service and can accommodate up to six guests, with convenient access to Lake Isabel, just three minutes away. Lake Isabel is one of the few lakes in Colorado developed purely for recreation. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the lake attracts many campers who come to hike, canoe, fish and spend time bird watching. St. Charles Creek flows near the cabin and offers an extra option for fishing.

Great location and beautiful cabin, well kept and clean. Basic amenities, perfectly perfect for a few days, a week or even more. Built in 1952, solid wood, stone fireplace, private grounds, kitchen, living, dining, bath and bedroom; a real pleasure to be there. It’s a quick jaunt across the road to a gorgeous lake, babbling brook/creek, national forest and trails.

Sixth stay at this cabin. We love this place. Has every thing we need. Grateful for the updates since we were there last. Very relaxing and great scenery. Did a little detailed cleaning, only because we wanted to.

Great place great experience. However It’s impossible to get a hold of the rangers and reservation.com is totally unresponsive to adding additional nights. The Friday Saturday rule is ridiculous.

Nothing wrong with the cabin or experience that we had. The cabin was clean but the only thing that was bad were all the dead flys on window sills but we wiped them up. The Cabin has adequate heating so leave them space heaters home! The cabin has enough cooking utensils, pots, pans, and dishes so you don’t have to worry about that. Would be wise to bring paper plates or plastic wear. There is cleaning supplies under the sink but I would recommend bringing disinfectant wipes. There is some bedding so bring more. Enough firewood, for one day was supplied so we had to get more but again, it’s not necessary because of the adequate heating. The only things we needed more of were toilet paper, trash bags, firewood and soap for bathroom and kitchen. Lots of fun things to do around the area and places to see but we just wanted to get away from the city.
Tip for using the fireplace: if it gets too Smokey and the smoke starts coming into the cabin close the glass doors on the fireplace ALMOST completely, like 3/4 the way, so the fire will suck the air through that opening and the smoke will go up the chimney
