Cedar Ridge Ranch is truly an amazing place. I don’t know if I have stayed anywhere that I have enjoyed more. My family and I went this summer for vacation. My family does not include children, which is what a lot of people seem to go for. It was me (26), my partner (28), my dad (78), and 2 dogs in the yurt and it was a great experience! Pam and Randy (the owners) are beyond accommodating. In a world so fast paced and structured, they have created a sanctuary in the Rocky Mountains. It is not your typical stay. There is no AC and you have to walk outside to get to the bathroom tent, but don’t let this deter you. It is like stepping back into a different time. A time where people actually enjoyed each other’s company rather than keeping to themselves. We sat around the table in the barn, both with Pam and Randy, and other guests talking for hours. And not in an awkward, uncomfortable way. We swapped stories of the places we’ve been and things we’ve done, and I’m not sure if there’s many places that encourage that anymore. They made their rounds at night to check in on us, and you can tell that it is genuine, not a forced customer service routine. Plus, as someone who loves to take her dog everywhere, my dogs had the absolute best time. They ran around and played so much that they slept for three days straight after coming home! If you want the high energy, modernized stay, this is not the place. But if you want to slow down, enjoy nature in the mountains, disconnect from the world, and reconnect with others, this is the place. I am so happy I found them. It was the highlight of my summer and will remain a fond lasting memory for the rest of my life.

I came to my first lesson with Merrill hoping to find a teacher and place aligned with my values—something beyond a transactional experience, where I could truly connect with and learn about horses. What I received was far more than I imagined. Merrill met me exactly where I was, creating a safe, welcoming space that gently built my confidence step by step. Her thoughtful guidance and emphasis on body awareness—both mine and the horse’s—helped me experience a profound energetic connection that I never expected. It was grounding, emotional, and deeply inspiring. I left feeling supported, in awe, and excited to continue this journey of learning and connection.

My sister and I stayed in the stargazer tent over a weekend in August for a music festival in Aspen. Location was great - just a short jaunt away from Carbondale but you felt "way out" in the wilderness. This is glamping - so rustic but comfortable. We loved waking up to the horses and seeing the dogs. Pam was a delight! Easy to find and the perfect getaway!

Just go. Do it today.

We'll spend 10 days in Colorado, staying in 3 different 5 star hotels and cedar ridge ranch. We'll not remember any of the hotels but we'll be talking and CRR for the next 10 yrs. There's no TVs, there's no room service and you are in a tent. You will hear the birds, the crickets, the horses outside and the farm dogs.....and it's amazing. It is a working farm so you need to slow down a little and go with the flow. But sitting on the porch of our tent looking at the milky way is better than any concierges.

The tents get cold so pay attention to the instructions on how to use the electric blankets. But man we slept so well. It's a great location for activities, we fished, rafted and trekked. We also went horse trekking with Merrill. My wife and I have practically no horse experience and our son is autistic. She handled it all in her stride.

We travelled a long way and were apprehensive, it wasn't the safe bet of a big name of a hotel chain, but thank God we did. It delivered something none of those can ever aspire too....
