Very clean bathrooms. Beautiful views. Will definitely camp here again next summer.
We had a 27' trailer and tent camping. While there were no fires allowed, we thoroughly enjoyed the short hike to the lake for evening and morning fishing. We also fished at the dam one day as well and love that area.

Thunder ridge is a relaxing, pleasant campground. It was well maintained and the host was pleasant and offered advice on ways to enjoy the area. we had the opportunity to canoe and fish as well as hike before relaxing at the camp site. We are hoping to return in September for one more chance to relax in this beautiful campground.
One thing we did notice was campsites that were reserved and unoccupied. I would like to see a few sites that remain first come sites for those campers that are traveling or find themselves with a weekend to camp.

The campground is clean and the camp host very efficient. The road up to the campground is horrible on your car or RV. The site we used was very unlevel and the asphalt is eroding away. But the view can’t be beat and the lake is beautiful!

We just camped at Thunder Ridge for the first time, July 19 for two nights. I’ll start by saying we had a spectacular campsite! Site #9 offers a fair amount of privacy with lots of available shade, great places to hang a hammock, lots of room to spread out and some pretty amazing views! We could see the valley below us with deer and wild turkey making appearances in the early morning, past that we could see the reservoir, and past that you could just barely see the lights of Monument.
A few things to be aware of: the road in is rutted with some fairly deep wash boards. Be prepared to drive 10 miles an hour or less and please make sure everything in your camper is secured! Our camper was fairly secured, but it still looked like a tornado happened while we were driving…
Site number nine is a back in, the only way we could get in with our 21 foot trailer was by driving the wrong way on the one-way road, pulling into the site opposite ours and then backing into number nine. Many of the campsites are VERY uneven, so bring lots of leveling blocks.
Also note that there is water available for filling up bottles or washing your hands, but not for filling up your RV, so bring water!
The campsites themselves are worth going back for, but that rutted road will keep us from going back this summer

This has been one of my favorite campgrounds for more than 20 years, no issues with bears until now. Be prepared.

From the I-25 and Hwy 24 intersection in Colorado Springs, Colorado, travel west on Highway 24 for 17.4 miles to Baldwin St. in Woodland Park. Turn right (north) on Baldwin (which turns into Rampart Range Road). Travel approximately 3 miles to Loy Creek Road, turn right at the Y, and travel 1.5 miles to Rampart Range Road (Forest Road 300). Turn right (south) on Rampart Range Road. The Rampart Reservoir Recreation Area entrance is approximately 4 miles up the road on the left. Thunder Ridge Campground is approximately 0.7 miles on the left.
Thunder Ridge Campground is accessible via Highway 24, which connects to I-25 in Colorado Springs. The campground is approximately 17.4 miles from the I-25 and Highway 24 intersection.

- •SPECIAL NOTE: Colorado State regulations prohibit attaching hoses to hydrants to fill RV’s. Please come prepared. •Please check-in with host upon arrival. •RV or trailers over 36 feet will have a very tough time making it through the campground because of tight corners and trees. •All vehicles including campers must fit in parking spur (not on grass) without blocking road. •Motorized and trailered boats may only launch on the reservoir Thursdays - Sundays from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. All boats and trailers must be inspected for aquatic nuisance species prior to launching. Hand launched boats may launch from the boat ramp 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Sunday - Saturdays. •Do not feed the wildlife. This includes bird feeders of any kind. •Don’t Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information. •10 mph speed limit in all campgrounds and day use areas. •Discharging any weapon is prohibited including paintballs, bow & arrow, BB guns, airsoft guns. Fireworks and explosives are prohibited. Target shooting is prohibited. •Thunderstorms are common; take extra precautions for lightning. •Be bear aware; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating. •This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations. •No horses allowed. •ATVs prohibited. •Click here for more information on Pike and San Isabel National Forests. •USE OF DRONES PROHIBITED.
- Two vehicles or one RV/Trailer and tow vehicle per site is included in the camping fee. $11.00/night for a third vehicle.
- Firewood is for sale from the Host site for $10.00/bundle.
