What Guests Are Saying
Saddlehorn Campground offers breathtaking views and well-maintained facilities, including exceptionally clean bathrooms and attentive camp hosts. While some sites are close together and certain spots may not be ideal for tents, many campers appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, especially in the tent-only sections. The campground is conveniently located near hiking and mountain biking trails, making it a great choice for outdoor enthusiasts.

We never once saw the camp hosts. When we arrived and there was a better campsite in the FF loop, we could not change our reservation online and no camp host to help. After two calls to Recreation.gov we found a rep who was extremely helpful and made the change for us. The first rep sent us on a wild goose chase.

This campground was great, we tent camped and loved that it was clean, easy to access and that the section we were in C, did not allow generators. Amazing place to stay in a beautiful park!

The campsite (27B) itself was terrible: directly in front of, and next to, the restroom. No privacy (trees); the table was directly on the path to the bathroom, as was the tent pad. (I was in a van, but the lack of privacy in this site was surprising). The site was bounded on three sides by pavement, path, and bathroom.
In contrast, the campground itself is situated in a beautiful part of the park. Trails are nearby, so one can hike to overlook scenery directly from the campground. The visitor Center is also within walking distance. Bathrooms are clean. Water is plentiful . Camp hosts are available, friendly, and helpful.
So my only complaint is the camp site (27B) itself. This site seemed wedged into some 'extra' space. I spent only one night, in a van, for a 3-night reservation.

The campsite was nicely laid out, the restrooms clean and well maintained, and the campground hosts particularly helpful.

Pros:
The best restrooms we've experienced at any campground.
Potable water available.
Amazing views.
Great hiking trails.
Very convenient to get to Fruita, where there are lots of dining options and shops.
The rangers are very helpful
We saw a cool concert at the ampitheater on Friday night.
Cons:
Very windy. At least while we were there.
That's about it. We had an enjoyable few days there in late April.

The ride up to the campground was an adventure by itself! I couldn’t look and my husband said it was his scariest road of our trip! But…the views were beautiful! We had a nice private campsite that was clean and level. The bathroom was immaculate! I would highly recommend this campground!

Beautiful area!! Thank you for the improved tent sites!! Camp host was great!!! Hiking out of the park was the best since we have a dog. There were no crowds! We’ve been 8 years in a row and will be back again!!

Very nice campground, secluded yet close to everything and the facilities are very clean and convenient. A great place to base out of for everything in the valley.

Reservation system is terrible. More than half the campground was empty yet there were no sites available. Host was not available to help change sites from my viticulture site overlooking the toilets.
