Enjoy the friendly yet quiet campground with the beautiful Colorado National Monument as a backdrop. Be sure to hike the trails within walking distance from the campground.
Saddlehorn and the Monument is definitely one of our favorites!

Terrific camping site. However, going during the first week of April and tenting, I froze. I do not recommend it.
Also, there was a couple with two dogs. The dogs didn't bark all the time, but if you wanted to sleep late, they would bark and wake you up; like a couple of furry roosters. I could tell that the couple was trying to keep them quiet, and they eventually put shock collars on, but the whining from the dogs was just as aggravating. Camp warden was gone during this time--his days off for the week.
So the low rating for my camping experience has nothing to do with the camp facilities. It was due to a poor choice for time of year and irresponsible dog owners.

Drove in at night, so didn't get to see the views on the super winding road from Grand Junction. In the morning we woke up to spectacular views! Drank coffee on the edge of a rock cliff...so peaceful. Definitely an amazing stay! The ranger was super nice, too. Bathrooms are decent.

Great campground. The outer spots have incredible views of the monument and all of them have decent privacy and tree coverage.
