About Saddlehorn Campground

Saddlehorn Campground is located within Colorado National Monument which preserves one of the grand landscapes of the American West. Much more than a monument, towering monoliths exist within a vast plateau and canyon panorama. You can experience sheer-walled, red rock canyons along the twists and turns of Rim Rock Drive, where you may spy bighorn sheep and soaring eagles.

The physical site itself exceeded expectations!

All the staff, to include Rangers support staff (especially the camp host) gave exceptional service.

Campsite B24 was nice - enough of a pull off to park our 20’ Airstream and truck and be slightly off the road. Bathrooms were well-kept and the location was convenient. Our site had some shade but it is very hot in the summer and not a lot of trees. Otherwise nice site to camp.

Very clean bathroom, potable water next to it, and the sites were large and views were beautiful. The park is stunning, and a privilege to sleep in and explore

Saddlehorn Campground was easily one of our favorite campgrounds on our entire trip. In fact, we loved it so much that we stayed here twice—once on our way to Utah and again on our way home.

We stayed in sites 67 and 76 and enjoyed both. The sites felt fairly private, were well maintained, and made for a comfortable stay. The campground itself was clean, quiet, and we always felt safe.

The scenery is what truly makes this place special. Words can't adequately describe the views from the campground area. The sweeping canyon vistas, dramatic rock formations, and breathtaking overlooks are absolutely stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset. You don't have to travel far to experience incredible scenery—it's right outside your campsite.

We enjoyed several hikes around the campground, including a fun hike to Box Canyon near the visitor center, which is within walking distance from the campground. Along the way, we saw bighorn sheep and plenty of other small wildlife, which made the experience even more memorable.

This campground is also a great base camp for exploring southeastern Utah. It's about 1 hour and 45 minutes from both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, making it a convenient and scenic place to stay if you're visiting either park.

If you're looking for spectacular views, wildlife, privacy, and a well-maintained campground, Saddlehorn is hard to beat. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone traveling through the area.

Wonderful camp ground. Tent stakes are impossible to use here so come prepared to hunt down large rocks for your guylines.
