What Guests Are Saying

O'Haver Lake campground is praised for its beautiful scenery, well-maintained sites, and friendly camp hosts, making it a popular destination for families and outdoor activities like kayaking and fishing. However, some visitors report issues such as a lack of water, noisy generators, and overcrowding, especially during peak times, which can detract from the experience. Despite these concerns, many guests express a desire to return, citing the overall charm and appeal of the location.

This is a beautiful spot. Wonderful for fishermen. But it is crowded. People are everywhere so if you are looking for peach and quiet, this may not be your spot.

Very scenic spot, and convenient for camping and access to a lot of offroad trails. We were camped next to a party that wanted to run their generator late into the night, and very early the next morning- might want to consider some better rules for folks who run generators.

The manager of the OHaver campground, Vickie Jones, a few days before we arrived to camp, mishandled the operations and relationship with the campground host, Dwayne Gorsuch, enough to push Dwayne to quit. For part of the time we were camping, the campground water supply was completely depleted, and the pit toilets became overfull, causing one of them to be closed completely. One of the neighboring campsites was occupied by a large group that continued very loud, disruptive, activity for about 2 hours past the 10pm "quiet time" without anyone addressing it (presumably because there was no campground host on duty). We met Dwayne and his wife in a previous visit to OHaver (one year before) and found them to be effective at managing the campground operations, diligent at keeping the facilities clean and in working order, and generally pleasant to deal with. In other words, based on our experience, Dwayne was NOT the one who caused the trouble which resulted in OHaver's mismanagement this summer. We "made the best of it" until the loud, obnoxious campers left, and until a new campground host arrived a few days later to resume maintenance and control of the campground. However, this was, overall, easily the worst camping experience we've had in Colorado. Before we visit OHaver again, we have a new item on our "camping checklist" to call the district ranger and find out if Vickie Jones has been terminated. If she's still in charge, we'll probably find some other place to go.
