Alvarado Campground

Campground host was extremely helpful when we wanted to move to another spot during our stay. Both sites were beautiful, but the one we moved to had a small stream. Awesome place. We will definitely return!

Beautiful campgrounds. Everyone is very respectful towards others . Will be my place to go , for relaxation and comfort.

Grounds and restrooms were clean and well kept. We stayed at site 26 and had great shade and space. The one slight downside was we had to pitch our tents down a hill from our actual parking / eating area. A couple sites are like this, so confirm site layouts if you are a big family with a tent.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this location, especially with the access to hiking. We did the venable/Comanche loop and I highly recommend.

Unfortunately, our experience wasn't the best. If you camp in a camper this campground is ideal with well placed bathrooms and utilities. Unfortunately my son and I are hammock and tent campers, and between the other campers filling their water at the spigot across from our site at 2300 and the wind gusts coming off the mountain, we only stayed a night. We found a disbursed camping site the next morning off Hermit Pass right on the water and stayed the rest of our planned trip there. Hope your trip to Alvarado is better, and support our state and national parks!

Campground is nice, good spacing and quiet. Camp host very friendly. The roads in the campground need some work. The trails (especially Venable trail) is badly in need of maintenance. Trees fallen everywhere, poor signage, washed-out and rocky. Forest service is not doing their jobs well on the trails.
