We loved this campground!! The stars were beautiful, the trails amazing. The camp host, Terry and his wife were lovely people. Bathrooms super clean and well-kept. Site 42 was awesome! Really big site and good shade/sun ratio. Site 41 was also beautiful with the creek running through it. We also loved the town of Westcliffe. Highly recommend!

Fantastic stay at Alvarado campground. Tent camped in site 2; close to toilet and water source, private and secure. Site had a substantial climb up about a dozen railroad tie stairs to reach tent platform, so not accessible for those with mobility limitations or very small children. Right next to a small stream, nestled in an aspen stand. Dark sky country; if it is not overcast, the stars are amazing.
Not far to Bishop's Castle and a nice ride north through the canyon to get to Royal Gorge. Westcliff is a quaint and well-stocked community. Definitely take time to stop in the railroad museums as you wander about time. Great friendly people throughout town!

Nice privacy with lots of shade and the lovely sound of a babbling creek next to the campsite.

It was great to see the host each day, and she was wonderful at keeping the bathrooms clean and for having wood available.
We were disappointed that the nearby Alpine Lodge was closed due to being sold, but it won't keep us from camping there every August as we have been doing for the last 13 years.
