Another COE campground we stayed at on our journey to Acadia NP. Having hot shower is definitely a bonus in addition to E/W hookup at the site.

Our visit was quiet as we wished. Perhaps during the main season there are children but in this visit there weren't. The camp was quiet, the rangers and hosts were visable and amicable but not intrusive.
The sites were cleaned and maintained. The bathroom is dated and the floor usually wet, which was a put off, but clean. The COVID signs need to go.
A good stay this time, in the past and I'll likely visit again.

W Thompson Lake was clean, quiet and friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed the corn hole tournament hosted by the staff and rangers.

we have been going here for seven years and we always plan our family reunion. We can count one very friendly hostess and clean bathrooms and showers. We do recommend that they take care of some of the dead trees that are at the sites for when you have rain or high winds you worry about them falling down. We have experienced and seen several trees that have come down. Definitely will be booking for 2024 family trips

West Thompson Lake is our all time favorite COE campground. The hosts are always so helpful and friendly. The rangers are on site daily and always stop to see how we are enjoying our visit! The bathroom is old but squeaky clean! If you visit, be sure to check out Riverside Pizza! Not only is their pizza awesome, they will deliver to the campground! There is a basketball court, horseshoes and corn hole to keep you busy. With 13 mi of hiking trails, and fishing allowed at the lake, you will never get bored or have nothing to do. Putnam is only a few miles from the campground and has groceries and some wonderful restaurants and breweries! All this and the campsites are nestled amongst mature oaks with private and shaded sites! Plan your trip now!

Getting There
From I-395, take Exit 50. Follow CT Route 200 east to Thompson Center. Turn right onto CT Route 193 south and proceed 2 mi to traffic light. Continue straight over the railroad tracks on Route 12. Take the first right onto Reardon Road. In 0.5 m...
From I-395, take Exit 50. Follow CT Route 200 east to Thompson Center. Turn right onto CT Route 193 south and proceed 2 mi to traffic light. Continue straight over the railroad tracks on Route 12. Take the first right onto Reardon Road. In 0.5 mi turn left onto West Thompson Lake Recreation Road and travel approximately 1 ft to the campground entrance on the right. Follow up to the Campground Registration Building.
Highway access
West Thompson Lake Campground is accessible via I-395, with Exit 50 leading to CT Route 200. CT Route 200 connects to CT Route 193 and subsequently Route 12, providing access to the campground.
Policies & Rules
General
- Entrance gate is closed.
- Alcohol is prohibited
- All campers are required to follow CDC's guidelines regarding COVID-19: Maintain a distance of 6 feet. Wash & sanitize hands regularly. Stay home if you are or have recently been ill or exposed to the COVID-19 virus.
- There is a 14 day maximum stay within a 30 day period
- Cash is not accepted. Credit card transactions only.
- Walk-ins are not currently allowed
- Swimming is not allowed at this lake. Swimming opportunities are available at a nearby state park. There are no waterfront sites.
- Speed limit on the lake is 5 mph
