Spring was closed due to alligator bite 2 weeks before. Staff is outstanding: friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and understanding.
Bathrooms need to be pressure-cleaned.

Original campsite we chose was too small for our tent, so we had to cancel our original reservation, and make a new one. Was a pain on the phone with one bar! But, glad we did. D67 was a great site, we had a really fun time. Got some good videos on the old gopro, even under water. And 72 degree water is very COLD at first. Had police officers drive thru the park several time a day while we were there. Nice touch. So much fun we will be back Labor day!

D67 was a great site, we had a really fun time. Got some good videos on the old gopro, even under water. And 72 degree water is very COLD at first. First time here and the camping was a great experience. The campground is clean, the sites are big enough and separate from the others. Restrooms close and showers were also clean and in good condition. The water was too hot but other than that, 10 out of 10. I would recommend a better system for people to locate their camp sites. We arrived at 730 pm and it was already dark. Took us a little while to find our site

Beautiful area and accessible to everyone. We camped there over labor day weekend and canoed, biked and hiked. There was plenty to do and the facilities were good. My only recommendation....the concessionaire at the spring could do better to have more food options available. The park service would do well to open a cafe there.

Always have fun at Alexander! Went during the week, and had most of the park to ourselves. People are very nice and very professional. Campsites and bathrooms have always been clean, and no noisy or annoying campers. Campsites are usually a lot larger than Tomoka or Juniper Springs. Water in the spring is COLD when you first get in, but great way to escape the summer heat! Had to take my wife, who is disabled, and can't walk all the way to the springs, then park the car back at the campsite and walk to the springs. Be nice if they had parking for the campers. But with the crowds they get on weekends, I can see why they have that rule. All in all one of our favorite places to camp, relax, and enjoy being out of doors.

Alexander Springs Recreation Area is located along County Road 445 in the northeast corner of Lake County between Astor and Altoona, Florida.
From I-75, take Highway 40 east through Ocala and Silver Springs approximately 40 miles to Highway 19. Go south on Highway 19 approximately 5 miles to Country Road 445. Go east on 445 for 5 miles to the campground.
From I-95, take the Ocala/Silver Springs Exit (Highway 40) west for approximately 35 miles to Highway 19. Go south on Highway 19 approximately 5 miles to County Road 445. Go east on 445 for 5 miles to the campground.
Alexander Springs Recreation Area is accessible via State Road 40, which is approximately 15 miles to the north. US Highway 441 is also nearby, providing additional access to the area.

- Caution is advised with pets due to alligator presence.
- Floats in the swimming area should be limited to under 60 inches in width.
- The boardwalk is closed due to damage.

- Campsites can accommodate 2 tents, 2 vehicles, and 5 people maximum.
