What Guests Are Saying
Camel Lake Campground is a peaceful and beautiful destination, ideal for relaxation and nature lovers, with spacious and well-maintained campsites. Visitors appreciate the friendly camp host and the scenic trails around the lake, making it a great spot for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. While the dirt road leading in can be bumpy and the bathrooms may require some upkeep, the overall experience is cherished by many, who value its secluded charm and tranquility.

* If you want to stay here, there is no ranger station and no way to check in. I had a great time camping here, but if you live close by and can afford to, maybe don't book a reservation because it was empty when we went.
The site was so quiet and absolutely gorgeous! The sites were decently spaced out for privacy, it was comfortable and quiet. I camped at Site 7, but I would recommend site 1 or 2 since it was near the lake. The bathroom was not the nicest but if you have camped before it does what it needs to do. Also, this site is close to Apalachicola National Forest, so there are lots of hiking trails nearby. Overall, this was a chill spot for camping over spring break and I definitely recommend it!

I practically had this camp ground to myself for two days - so peaceful-plenty of water in the lake and just a beautiful stay. Make sure to write down all your reservation information before you go because the phone network signal is pretty week.

The quiet location and large campsites are why Camel Lake is my favorite. While the 2 mi county-maintained road can seem like a turnoff, just look along the right shoulder of the road for red flags. If you see a red flag on your right, quickly turn into the left lane and you'll avoid a major pothole. Of course, you don't want to go more than about 20 mph because the county road is not well maintained.

We’ve been going to camel lake for twenty years. It’s always a great place to unwind. Only drawback to this campground is not having the ability to dump tanks but the bath house helps with that. Don’t expect much of a cell signal ( that’s what we love about it). The trail around the lake is a great walk.

Too great of a place to boast about! Beautiful and quiet. What more?

Very quiet nice trail around lake. Only negative which is not horrible but the road going in was very bumpy. There has been a lot of before I got there and would imagine the forest service will grade road.

Site 2 has an awesome view of the lake. Not great for tent camping, though. Terrain is sloped and rocky. This site is definitely for RV camping. Camel Lake is our favorite camp ground in the area.

The 2-mile gravel road going in was rough with deep potholes and wash outs. It took one hour to traverse with constant jigging and jagging to avoid them and protect our equipment. Once there. the campground was beautiful with electric and water at each site, we could not find the dump station. However. the bathroom was absolutely filthy and had not been cleaned in forever. There were rust stains and others in the toilet and sink with layers of dead insects, sand and debris on the floor in the toilet are and in the shower areas. Trash was not empty. There is no cell service or Wi-Fi at the campground. We were the only ones there but yet there were reserved signs at each and every campsite. The grass was mowed and the sites were clean. I did knock at the host 's door to let him know we would be leaving earlier than expected and inquired on how to obtain a refund. Between the 2 parties we called x 6 times, left on hold for over an hour and a half each time only to be disconnected and ultimately never was able to speak with anyone and decided the refund was not worth our time anymore. We are sorely disappointed in our experience and will probably not stay at another Corps campground.
