We live close to Putnum Lodge so my sister and I decided we would go for lunch. I had already looked at the menu on line, plus I had seen some very nice reviews. We were looking forward to lunch. We had decided one of us would get the Philly cheese steak and the other would get the Reuben. The atmosphere was great. When the food came both sandwiches were on a white hoagie roll, even the Reuben. There was no corned beef, sourkraft or thousand island dressing on it and no Rye bread and it had yellow cheese. It did have steak (not corned beef) which was very skimpy.
The Philly steak did have steak, but just a hint of onions and peppers, no mushrooms. It was very dry. All in all lunch was very disappointing to say the least. Not sure if we will be brave enough to try again.

Had lunch there. Food was excellent, our waiter was great! Had the smashed burger, best ever had, cooked to perfection! Cuban was also great. Had sweet iced tea to drink, just the right sweetness.

Great experience in charming, historic 100 year old lodge, great stop between Tampa & Tallahassee. Bev the owner does a great job, beautiful antiques all around, King bed was super comfortable, top notch accommodations, clean and spacious. Suggest to request a 2nd FL room in center/back of lodge as those are the quitest

Solid spot. Food was really good across the board.

The loaded fries stayed crispy all the way through, which is rare, and the Brussels sprouts were probably the standout—fried centers with a ton of flavor, not soggy or bitter like you get at a lot of places.

The sweet bread rolls with the balsamic olive oil dip were legit. Simple, but done right. And yeah, we got the 1927 salad...it’s worth ordering.

What really surprised me though was the place itself. Walking the grounds is a whole experience...way bigger than you’d expect, with all these random Chinese statues and even peacocks just roaming around. It’s got this FL cool vibe you don’t really find anymore.

Honestly feels like one of the last best kept secrets in Florida. Definitely going back simply for the food if no other reason!

This lodge was very homey inside. A fire lit and soft music as you walked into the office to check in. It is like a time machine going back to before all the modern conveniences of life.
I was super excited to stay in such an antique hotel but I totally forgot that during the winter it's cold and probably the coldest and rainiest day of the year for that area.
We booked on the very end facing the hwy. The room was clean but I was disappointed in the lack of keeping the decor with the time period like in the main entrance.
There was no thermostat or way to adjust the temperature to our liking and I was very happy I packed my little heater throw in the car. Boy did we need it that night. It did seem to be warmer closer the the middle where the office is located.
In other comments about the noise I didn't find it too bad I think I heard maybe one or two big trucks during the night but maybe more during the weekdays. Nothing a good fan can't drown out. I have a phone app that helped with that.
My husband was brave enough to take a shower. He had about 1 min of hot water untill the icecubes started coming out.
We did enjoy a fabulous meal at the restaurant Saturday night. That definitely was the highlight. They are only open a couple nights of the week but well worth going.
My suggestions would be to have a brunch on the weekends as well. The hotel itself the continental breakfast was to go into the kitchen and fix yourself like you are staying at someone's house . When we went there was one frozen biscuit in the freezer and some yogurt in the fridge. Bread on the table along with some sort of pastry from Walmart. No where to sit down and eat. No table in the room to eat. The coffee option was the cheapest you can buy but the little tea pots for hot tea to fix yourself were very cute but then you drink out of a paper cup.
I think this place could be AMAZING it has the potential.
If they could decorate the rooms a little better and have a brunch at the restaurant during the weekend.
We will return but maybe to stay at the RV portion and dine at the restaurant again.
