As always we greatly enjoyed visiting salt springs. We've been going there for years. This is the first time we were told to register online. We had a young lady that told us we needed to do that and she was pretty much rude and not helpful at all but we got through it. The rest of our experience at the spring and with everyone else was wonderful just as we remembered it. I understand that they get people that have never used the website before and that it gets frustrating but the young lady we had was very rude to us. Praying that she wants some people skills.

Prices have gone way up and amenities have gone down. Naventure the company who manages it now hasn't made any improvements since taking over. Campers are not allowed to park in the swimming area unless you pay the day use fee or you can walk a little over a mile each way to the swimming area.

Great camp ground. Disappointed that there is no access for paddleboarding unless you want to either carry all your gear and board to the boat ramp or drive to the boat ramp drop off your gear and return your car to your camp site and walk all the way back to the boat ramp. The other option is to go to the crowded marina parking lot and pay $20 to launch a paddle board. Very inconvenient. The camp ground boat ramp has plenty of room to park cars. Not a good experience.

We enjoyed our stay for 4 nights, enjoyed the lake and springs.

Salt Springs is located 35 miles east of Ocala (I-75), 60 miles west of Daytona Beach (I-95) and 95 miles north of Orlando, Florida.
From I-75 to Ocala: Drive east on State Route 40 for about 12 miles, then turn north on County Road 314 and proceed for 18 miles. Turn north on State Highway 19 and drive for about 0.5 mile to the recreation area entrance on the right.
From I-95 east of Ormond Beach: Take SR 40 west about 40 miles to Highway 19. Turn north on Highway 19 and go about 16 miles to Salt Springs. Continue 0.5 miles to the recreation entrance on the right.
Salt Springs Recreation Area is accessible from I-75 via State Route 40, which is approximately 12 miles to the east. I-95 can also be accessed via State Route 40, which connects to Highway 19.

Policies & Rules
General
- Two vehicles are included in the site fee. However, only 1 vehicle is allowed to park on the site spur unless it completely fits on the asphalt/parking pad. The other vehicle must park in overflow parking. Boats are considered a vehicle and will count towards one of your vehicles if you bring one. An extra vehicle charge will be applied towards boats and vheicles over the allowed 2.
- Vehicles, trailers, campers, motorcycles, etc. must be parked on paved surfaces. Do not park on the grass.
- Generators are not allowed to run during quiet hours.
- Stays are only allowed for 14 days in any 30 day period.
- Be sure to reserve a site that will accommodate your equipment. The site you reserve is your site. You may not move to another site.
- Pets are not allowed into the Day Use area Forest Order #08-05-05-02-13-0207; 36 CFR261.58(s)
- Personal golf carts are not allowed in the Ocala National Forest; if you bring one, it must remain on its trailer
- Maximum 2 vehicles allowed per site; a fee will be charged for extra vehicles
- There is no cell phone coverage or internet service at Salt Springs
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
- Discount passes must be entered at the time of booking for single sites only, all request for refunds will need to be requested online, no onsite refunds will be given.
