The Wandering Path is truly magical. The sound of the wind moving through the pine trees is mesmerizing, and the wooded paths lead to a beautiful, peaceful river with both sandy and rocky beaches. The property offers primitive campsites and yurts, plus a great outdoor kitchen. The bathhouse showers were some of the best we’ve experienced! Amanda is a wonderful hostess who communicates well and clearly cares about her guests having a great stay. We will definitely be back!

The Wandering Path feels like a deep breath.
We spent a few quiet days camped along Blackwater Creek, and the land did what land is supposed to do — it held us, slowed us down, and reminded us how little we actually need. Tall pines whispering in the wind, sandy creek bends, cold air moving through camp, and that kind of silence that softens everything.
A cold front rolled in while we were there, and nights dropped into the 20s. Campfires burned longer. Dogs stayed closer. Mornings came slow and silver, breath visible, coffee warm in your hands. Primitive in the best way — simple, grounding, and real.
This isn’t a place for rushing or noise. It’s for nomads, for kids who wander barefoot, for dogs who follow the scent of the day, for people who love a little dirt and a lot of peace. The space feels intentional and uncrowded, like the land was shared thoughtfully rather than taken.
If you’re craving an off-grid pause — somewhere to reconnect with nature, your people, and your pack — this place is special. We left lighter than we arrived, and we’ll be back.

I would love to leave more than 5 stars! Amanda has built such a beautiful space at The Wandering Path. I was there this weekend with a group of 9. One brought a camper and the rest of us stayed in the yurts. They were spacious and comfy. She has air conditioning and heaters. Very clean. Bathrooms were always clean and stocked. Safe, peaceful, relaxing environment. Can’t wait to come back! If you’re luck enough to meet Amanda’s dog, Bella please give her a bully rub from us.

The Wandering Path is a magical place to unwind and get away from it all. It is quiet and peaceful. A great place to unplug and recharge.
2 full bathrooms available, 8 total camping spots including 4 yurts (maybe more to come?) It is located along a natural spring a perfect place to cool off or cold plunge.
I drove about 8 hours each way to get there and home and it was well worth it! I went up for a digital detox and met lovely like minded folks. Yoga, meditations, sound baths; it was the perfect weekend. The stars at night are gorgeous. No traffic to be heard. Amanda is a super host! I can’t wait to go back.

We LOVED tent camping at the Wandering Path! The land was absolutely beautiful and being alongside the river was so peaceful. We camped at Primitive site #5, and it was so clean and perfect for our 4 person tent. Listening to the river as we fell asleep was perfect. The bathhouse was very clean and we had no issues. The showers even had legitimate hot water, which was a welcome luxury considering the camping I usually do has no showers at all. Amanda, the camp host and owner, was so friendly and was extremely responsive with all inquiries. Her directions were also spot-on which was great because my service was spotty way out there, but that was all part of the charm and wonderful experience. Camping is something I regularly do and have done nearly my entire life, so I have experienced a wide range of campgrounds, facilities, and sites. This has become my favorite place to camp in this area. Highly recommend!
