What Guests Are Saying
Ortona South Campground is praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and friendly, helpful staff, creating a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Many campers enjoy watching the boats and wildlife, with stunning sunrises and sunsets enhancing their experience. While some facilities, such as the bathrooms and fishing pier, could use improvements, the overall ambiance and well-maintained grounds make it a favorite spot for many returning campers.

Booking website was a little misleading when the park is locked up but failed to specify that you get a code to unlock it during your stay. Could use more lightning but overall awesome place to stay. Thx

We really enjoyed our stay here. Very well kept place with beautiful views and friendly people. We arrived the day before the scheduled government shutdown and we were warned we’d probably have to leave the next day but thankfully that didn’t happen and we enjoyed our stay. I think people didn’t travel thinking they would be closed because we practically had the place to ourselves. We will definitely be back. We had a good signal with T-Mobile home and AT&T and Verizon had 2 bars.

Very relaxing campsite, clean, spacious sites, right on the river with boats navigating through the lock. Will definitely return to this hidden gem.

It was quiet and laid back. The option of crossing the control structure to the lock was especially nice.
I am disappointed in that fishing the spillway has been cut off on the campground side. The lock side fishing platform is shoulder to shoulder so I couldn't fish during my visit. Otherwise the camping was very nice. It is one of our favorite places, other then love bug season.
