Ortona South Campground is praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and friendly, helpful staff, creating a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Many campers enjoy watching the boats and wildlife, with stunning sunrises and sunsets enhancing their experience. Beautiful and well kept. Large, well-spaced sites. Alligators, river otters and limpkins and their offspring were fascinating to watch. Fun listening to Wicked Witch of the Locks harass eastbound/westbound boaters (marine channel 13).

Very nice campground with level cement pads and gravel patio areas with picnic table and shelter. There are no sites that actually are 'on the river', but half are on the upper bank the other half is across the drive from the river but have a good view of it. Plenty of grassy areas, very clean and cell service (Verizon and AT&T) is very good. The one small downside is no Wi-Fi is available, but we will return again, it's a great little park.

Always nice to go to a Recreation Gov location and use our Lands - this spot is a nice small camp and has a wonderful feel.
Windy and Sunny with waterway views. This time we wend for a late lunch just down the hi-way to the River Grill restaurant.
Boy O Boy was the food good.
Got to see some wildlife too.
NOTE back up the road to town is a Walmart, and Tractor Supply if you need stuff during the stay.

We have stayed here multiple times. As always it is maintained immaculately. The sites are all cement pad with a gravel area for the fire pit and picnic table.

We loved this park. Not a lot to do, but it was hot and windy, so we enjoyed looking at the gators and boats as they passed thru the lock.
